ONYX STORM - INITIAL THOUGHTS AND REACTIONS!! SPOILERS!!

I am sleep deprived, I have spent the last 3 days devouring this book!! and I am not okay!!
Here are my initial thoughts and reactions to ONYX STORM!!

I don’t think andarna broke the bond. There’s was a slide whistle sound then grandpa took off. I think he broke the connection. I think she followed because she needed to find out what he did to undo it

I’m here for the Sloan and Dain romance. I will say… he has grown on me now. The new romances were a fabulous addition. Imogen and Garrick finally having the smallest moment too. Devo for Cat after finally moving on. I really enjoyed all the side characters developments. Aaric is everything! What a signet! Can’t wait to see him be a major player in the series now! So ripped off not seeing the wedding! But I do get that RY needed to leave the ending on a MAJOR cliff hanger that would consume as more than the previous books! But her memory better be retired or I will RIOT!

That was definitely intentional book 4 and 5 are gonna be the longest of all of them I think we’ll have more POVs. RY introduced two more POVs for a reason

Anyone else think violet is pregnant? Hear me out, Theophanie says to violet when she sees her in the field with Bodie that she reeks of his kin? Yes you could argue she’s just referring to bodhi being xaden’s family but Rebecca always foreshadows and leaves little Easter eggs there when you re-read her books. In the first book violet says to xaden before they sleep together that she takes the fertility suppressant and xaden says he does too but they slept together on the isles where magic and that doesn’t work? Another possibility is they haven’t been taking it, considering Xaden is avoiding being physical with her so he doesn’t lose control and channel and given all the craziness happening with everything that’s going on violet may also have forgotten to take it? Then she talks about how tired she is throughout the rest of the book after that scene in the isles. Early pregnancy symptoms? I think she even mentions nausea at one point? Also xaden marrying her would make their heir legitimate. Also I don’t think either xaden or violet know she’s pregnant if she is, I think he was only marrying her so she could rule aretia because bodhi has turned venin. It will also be horrible for violet finding out and not being able to tell Xaden and him not knowing. Also I just thought of another possible egg when violet is in her and xadens room with Mira and Brennan and Mira says “she said the heart that beat for you - or within you -“. Brennan repeats and emphasises it again saying “within her or for her?” Xaden assumes they are talking about him. I think he’s the heart that beats for her and the baby is the heart that beats within her, but they assume the priestess was referring to violet herself. Rebecca is going to rip our hearts out 😭 Also there was lots of foreshadowing of their marriage in this book when xaden kept referring to violet as his consort and even when he called her a duchess at one point. There was a lot of mentions of an heir too when xaden was talking to or referring to bodhi but we all know Rebecca foreshadows and she thinks we all think he’s talking about bodhi but I think it’s violets pregnancy. Also go back to earlier in the books when violets mother says to her don’t judge my actions until you become a parent yourself. More foreshadowing? Could be 100% wrong here and didn’t really like the idea of that happening but I could see it now.

that ending took me from "I called it" to a WTF just happened. I'm not devistated because I beleive they are end game and it will end good for them, but the end was a O.O moment. but looking back at foreshadowing esp. the marriage contract talk it makes sense.(ignore spelling I cannot spell my way out of a dictionary)

The ending feels like set up. We're now heading into the 3rd act of the series, with only 2 books left planned. I think the POV shifts were probably foreshadowing for seeing more from Rhi and Imogen's POV in the last two books. I'm here for Imogen taking more spotlight. She's always been one of my favorite characters. The battle felt like it took up the last 25% of the book though. There was a LOT going on and I gotta go back to re-read it again myself. The betrayal by Panchek felt like it came out of left field so I gotta go back and read again looking for clues on that. I also agree that Andarna kind of just showed up but again I think this book ending wasn't really an ending. It was a rise in action and now we'll see some resolution before the final climax of the series in book 5.

I think the new brother is Ridoc. Rhi’s pov chapter points to his weird behavior and there’s attention on his bickering with Aotrom in the mid of the book.

I think Ridoc too, he has always been overshadowed by Xaden. And that might explain Rhi’s POV because that chapter was kinda weird? Like why is it there?

No the mention of ridoc in that section was because he was concerned for violet’s safety as Tarin was carrying Mira ‘s injured dragon tiene and violet was all alone facing threophine and the other venins .rhi was concerned that he would break the direct orders that they were given inorder to save violet. So I don’t think he is the brother also xAden mentioned his brother saw him being a venin for the past 5 months but ridoc got the information about xAden being a venin a lot later when they met the irids for the first time so he didn’t know for xaden being the entire 5 months

I was thinking either right or Derek because he said something about how he was burned out and he could just do what he had to do or something so what makes me think is maybe he was caught in battle and he was burned out. He couldn’t help himself, so he said I’m not sure.

Why am I the only person that thinks that when the person referred to his brother he was talking about Jack because they brought Jack in that cabinet that keeps him suspended because that’s the stage as other Son because I think the sage refers to his creations as his children and also am I the only person who thinks that Violet at the end is now translucent like and Andarna because she went to Dune, she killed the person who betrayed Dune, who was one of the priests with the stone dagger. They get married by the high priestess of the Dune Temple and now she comes back and nobody’s talking about what she looks like and Brennan’s like we have to keep this confidential and all this stuff like I think she’s now translucent Like Andarna but that’s just me

Plus, if you remember from iron flame from Zayn’s chapter, Jack tells him welcome to the family and I believe he even calls him brother so everybody who’s like thinking that it’s Bodie or Garrett I think you’re one of them obviously turned them in, but I don’t think that’s who he’s referring to when he says bring your brother

My thoughts: think that the brother could be Garrick, coz he was nearing burn out and he’d watched xaden struggle and he just disappeared… but then they need his signet for another of my theories. Also how Brennan says to violet that she would choose everyone of herself and xaden will choose her over everyone, I think he will trying to fight the venon from the inside and then turn completely and cross one of the boundaries she made with ridoc, maybe even kill saegel or tairn and then violet will have to choose to keep everyone safe and kill him. I’m also at a loss with the andarna plot like we need more info, why would the irids refuse to help, then help and the she just leaves, but comes back not long after. Maybe it’s to do with magic to break bonds? Maybe that could save xaden or cut the mating bond? But also ridoc and aaric were amazing for me, and even Dains redemption arch. Like Sloane working with Dain to bring back Mira after Liam was something, but her comments about someone like you shouldn’t have so much power are going to mean something! But there’s loads of reference to six in the book too, and a quote about “rarest of signets…...but only once have the six most powerful walked the Continent simultaneously” - so I’m starting to think they’ll need the strongest signets to beat the venon, atm I’m looking at lynx the “new shadow wielder, maybe dain, Garrick, violet, aaric, and perhaps Sloane or whatever bodhis second signet was coz he has to have one!

I am wondering if it will be a ‘when all the powers combine’ situation, but I have also heard theories that the irids take power from the sky rather from the ground and will have the opposite effect to the venin…

I wonder if there was no wedding and if they just got married, he just married her without her really knowing or I wonder if there was a wedding and it got really really bad but I don’t think there was one because he must’ve just married her without her actually knowing he married her and then slipped the ring on her finger or he came to see her and something happened and he gave her the ring or something I’m not sure all I know is it’s gonna be like two years till the next book and I don’t know what to do.

I definitely felt like this book was kind of a storyline filler - there's a lot. So I feel like the rest of the series is going to have massive losses. I need to reread a few more times to process everything.

I agree it was almost a midway … pause the normal story process let’s do something different midway…. Then back into it? We got so many confirmations of theories which was amazing! But otherwise the story was primarily Violet being in denial and Xaden slowly losing himself to the venin

I think it might be sawyer who is the new brother. Because not so obvious. He has struggled through the book. However there sre so many of the roders missing at the end. Dain, rhi, aric, ridoc, brennan., and garrick. I was expecting imogen and garrick to get together.. Slloane is being set up for a bigger role imo. Vi notices that sliane doesn't leave a mark when she siphons. Omg there is so much to decipher in this book. I also resonated with vi when she took to her bed for 3 days after andarna left. Anyway, off to read again. Or fibd a new series so i can fill a hole for the next year or so. And i cant wait 2 years. . Thats too long.

Well Sloane noticed Dain had more power than he should…. I am not even ruling out Ridoc, and yes possibly Sawyer, but I think with strong romances blossoming they have something to hold onto, to stay away from drawing power. Which is why my biggest guesses are Bohdi, Ridoc and Brennan
