here's several things for building a railroad layout yourself Find a proven set of plans online Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have someone to encourage you (I discovered these and why they work on Jareks hobby club website )

Thank you, Peter, what an inspiration to me. Now, maybe, I will get on with building a small layout first rather than the full shed I have been going to start for the last 5 years!

Hi Peter nice job & video too, though please do something about signaling. Please, while reading my comments have a look at the layout. I've seen 3 signals: a mast with 2 + 1 for the track coming from the engine shed. They are all up! As it is, it would mean that all could move ahead; no way! For this system: Nornal position is the arm is down and across in red colour, which means that the engine cannot move. When the arm goes up, green colour, it means that that engine may move, and all others stay red. When the engine/train goes by, then the arm goes down again. Now regarding the mast: The higher signal is the main line, and one that's next to it and at lower hight is for a siding. As it is, passing track is main line whilest the station track is the siding. If the station were the main line, then the mast should have the signal coming out from the station at a higher level and siding at a lower hight. To give a green light for the engine coming out from the shed it would mean that all other signals are down, ie red. It will indee give you more fun on the layout!! Cheers

Great little layout, Re. Comments on signals, just as easy to get it right as to get it wrong.

After watching I had an idea....how about an X crossover from the loco shed top left which allows then the engine to come out ahead of anything in the station piece of track byh way of the left points to the right..?

Have you got a track plan for this wonderful layout please?
@peterb15434 жыл бұрын
No Track plan.But it is about 18" wide x 7ft long with a small 17" run off.
@Bass-guitarist4 жыл бұрын
Peter B thanks for such a prompt response. Would you mind please if I constructed a layout with an approx copy of your track plan?
@peterb15434 жыл бұрын
@@Bass-guitarist Of course not but if I was you I would make the run off longer.However it can be unscrewed.But it would need to be sturdy to support it.

Nice layout mate, signals are great the way they are. Ignore the rivet counters, thanks for taking the time to make a vid and upload it for us to enjoy. Cheers
