excellent system for points looks more effective ,nice tip for ballast color ,when the replacement tower arrives it will look really good on the layout.I really do like the Fire and the little items you have added to the area .The layout is really coming together now ..........

Thank you Paul, yes I’m really pleased with the way things are looking. The fire does look quite strange on cam. It seems to make it look like a ranging inferno rather than a campfire gone wrong oh well lol. Thank you, as always for taking the time to comment,

Great update John. The point levers look good, and good idea to add paint to the mix for the ballast. It is all looking very nice, Cheers Geoff

Thank you Geoff. I’m very pleased how the levers and ballast looks. The paint gives a random effect which can be modified with the airbrush after

One reason that you had problems with the woodland scenic ballast is that I think it's made from crushed walnut shells and not crushed rocks like the Jarvis ballast.
@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo64454 жыл бұрын
Oh right, ok. Now I didnt know that. Whilst I wont waste what Ive got, Ill stick with the Jarvis for future projects. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Nice job John. I've always found that using woodland scenics ballast I've had to dampen it first other than if I use neat pva and add the ballast to it. Can I order 10 sets of the point rodding kits and levers please lol they look perfect. Hope your ballast dries ok cheers Andy
@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo64454 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, guess Im just preferring the Jarvis ballast, personal choice. Drying beautifully, even in the heat may still take day or so. I did it Sunday night, so its only had around 12 hours so far. So glad you like the lever arms, may I suggest have a go, may help you out if you’re not happy with your achievements.

@@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445 you know me John always up for a challenge so I'm looking into doing some kind of version. Thanks for all the inspirations throughout many of your videos and builds on both layouts Andy

Really interesting John :-) I liked watching this video very much. Looking good on all you've done! Well achieved sir! Regarding the water tower: have you tried at the lower voltage? or are you going to hang on for the replacement. Thank you Iain
@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo64454 жыл бұрын
Thank you Iain, Ive thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Yes the water tower is a pain, after spending all that time, effort and material to complete the project. Lower voltage, not yet. I want to try putting resistors on the feed see what the voltage is. Jenny Kirk said it would work on 3v so we’ll. Thanks as always Iain for taking the time to comment.

The point levers look great, don't know yet if I'll make some or buy some for my layout. Shame about the water tower becuase it looks amazing, hopefully a new one will look just as good. 😀👍

Thank you, yes I was gutted over the water tower. Spent two days fitting the 12v bus and switches, the fire etc etc and one hour after finishing the recall email. I don’t want to run the risk of this thing exploding.
