@@lootgoblinmarketplace we had an npc we called Hopper that fell off an ice tower in a storm giants castle on our wild surging Sorcerer. hopper was shocked when the puddle that was the Sorcerer reformed back into the form that she was weapon and all. we had been hid in the Orgers dorm for 3 nights by Hopper as we earned the respect of the storm Giant. by getting dragon cultists and a white Dragon out of his Castle .

I just started DMing, and I strive for moments like these. The seemingly not important charaters or plots that turn out to be the lifeblood the campaign. Something that you always look back on and think fondly of. This truly is an inspiration to do better and share these great moments with my friends.

It's been years since I played D&D. I miss it terribly, so I spiraled into a rabbit hole of stories, eventually finding this channel just yesterday. This story got me all misty eyed. The DM did a great job improv-ing the usage of Oohgie, making him important to the party without providing too much value that it would imbalance the game, and implementing him in the final fight without taking away from the party's contributions. They even managed to inspire 'that guy'. I could imagine this in my head so clearly that I felt like I was there. Thanks for sharing this story OP, and thanks for telling it so well Loot Goblin. I think I found my new favorite D&D story channel.

This was just such an endearing story. I don't have any other way to put it and it's hard to type with tears in my eyes. Oohgie is the best crafty-smith ever in all the lands, I am sure of it. Also shoutout to the DM! He turned what was supposed to be this very minor side character into something larger than life and brought not only the players, but also everyone else to tears. And even if Oohgie's final dialogue wasn't word for word accurate, it's what the players remembered and it's told by how they felt. And judging by how many teary eyed comments I can see, we only felt a fraction of the emotions. The DM did a fantastic job. A great sendoff to a beloved character with a very happy ending. Man, I love this story. Bless Oohgie.

What the hell. I don’t cry. Period. I have not cried in about eight years. But here I am, listening to this before I take a shower, nose running, and eyes burning. I’m serious, I do not cry. I didn’t cry when my cat died, I didn’t cry when I watched the superhero I’ve loved since I was nine say his last words, I. Do. Not. Cry. But this is what got me? Damn you Oohgie. You really are the greatest dwarf. I am an adult male, built like a less muscular lineman or a cement truck, hardly shows emotion even when alone, who’s family considers to be a perpetually irritable grouch. Why the hell am I crying?

I love Ooghie. One campaign I recently finished had an NPC that we all grew really attached to, an elderly dragonborn lady who ran a tavern in our druid’s hometown. She did very sweet, typical grandma stuff, like knitting and baking, but our DM never hesitated to remind us that she was extremely buff and over 7 ft tall. As time went on, we learned that she had been a paladin in her youth. As we neared the end of the campaign and we were making plans to lay siege to a city that was under the control of the big evil cult, we recruited many NPCs to create an army, and this Dragonborn granny was one of them. We got to see an oath of conquest paladin rip a few enemies to shreds with her bare hands when the druid’s life was in jeopardy, and she intercepted a nearly fatal blow on behalf of the druid. I think we were all convinced she might die as our group desperately repeated “heal her! Heal her!” She luckily lived, but had to sit out the rest of the fight. Definitely no Ooghie, but we loved Kava the grandma paladin

This still makes me cry to this day There was a moment in my campaign where we lost our bard to an undead Blade Master I was the DM for a campaign called Hitchhiker's guide to the multiverse, a realm jumping game of nonsense and fun along with places like the 9 hells, the beast lands An Egypt realm and The shadow fell to name a few, it's in this last realm where it happened. For context the campaign started with a handful of people from a DnD server I was In and for one reason or another all had left except our Bard Player who is still a great friend to this day, They played Swiss a changeling who was our voice of reason and the glue that held the party together. Along the journey Swiss had gone through alot of misfortunes (Which the player was fine with) such as a Genderswap spell, a Wendigo curse threatening to transform them and a handful that I can't recall. But to get to the moment mentioned At the time we had Swiss, a Monk, a Barbarian, a warlock "Necromancer" and a Paladin. They were sent by a Deceptively helpful Strahd in their quest to retrieve the heart of a shadow dragon in a dungeon, obvious trap but after fighting some Marrashi and some shadow fell monsters, they arrived at a boss room where they met Baron gravestone, a Blade Master with 4 arms and an immunity to radiant DMG. Think General grevious but as a Revenant, The party engaged with him and Even when he beat the Paladin in a compelled duel, they managed to restrain and kill him. After that they found a secret room that held the key to finding the Shadow dragon along with some magic items. But alas, as they were looting I spoke to our bard. "Swiss, as you pass through the Doorway to the treasure room you feel an icy cold sensation and as you look down you see a clawed hand plunged through your chest" this caused the table to have a mix of reactions from shock to panic and a Roar from our Barbarian as the baron revived and taunted the party telling them they'll never Get out of this realm alive. The party turned around and beat him into the dirt and cracked his mask making him unable to revive....then they turned to Swiss who layed dying on the floor with his fey spirit summons surrounding him with mournful expressions. They tried but couldn't save their friend. Shortly after We defeated and took the heart of the Dragon we took a small detour back to the feywild and held a funeral for our fallen Bard, I had the previous PCs attend as NPCs to pay respects and to share fun memories. The player ended up playing a cooky old man cleric after that and the party saved the multiverse from Some demon lords who wanted to tear apart reality with a dark god behind the scenes and the Party was congratulated and rewarded by the Greater deity who was previously trapped by the dark god. In the end Swiss became a sort of Guide for future realm jumpers with the same bright and positive personality, and will play a part in the Sequel campaign. "Hitchhikers 2, [insert subtitle here]"
