Totally weird and I've only just noticed this but when he is waived his batted ball tendency changes from 'Normal' to 'GroundBall'

Do you know how to change the award names to silver slugger and gold glove award?

Game Settings/League Settings/Options. You can type different names for any of the awards or create an entirely new, custom award as well.
