Checking the override lineups box will indeed allow you to do that. However, it will not prevent your manager from restricting you from adjusting the player strategy settings or his insistence on hiring specific coaches. I usually tolerate them controlling the strategy settings, but when it comes to the coaching staff. I will usually fire that manager that keeps me from doing what I want there. Another case where I will fire my manager is if he is too hitter or pitcher friendly and keeps me from signing a key free agent.

Hmm, I thought there was a way to override the hiring of manager thing but admittedly don't remember how and don't have the game available to look @ right now.

Many of the things you let minor league managers or your assistant manage - you can set exceptions to. For instance a minor league prospect, you can go into his options and set him as "no trade" and even "no demotion" or whatever. Then the minor league manager will do all the rest - but not trade or demote the guy with that option set. You've effectively over-ruled him on a player by player basis. He does most of the work. You get to set the exceptions This means - for the really workload heavy stuff you can manage by exception. You could easily spend hours managing your AA and AAA sides every season. IMO that's not worth it as it really slows the flow of the game. So scan through. Pick your favourites, then put notes on them not to be traded or not to be demoted. Then maybe pop back every 2 months to see how they are getting on and amend as you think.

going 0.90 on batter and P for aging, 1.00 dev for P, 1.35 dev for hitters

hope they do some more updates to trading next year. i want to use hard mode for trading but there needs to be some way to ask the other team what players they are interested in. teams should also value players based on their scout’s scouting report on them instead of using the underlying ratings from the editor.

Great video bro. Can you do a video again about pitching stats, what we should look out for and what is a good way to see if pitchers are lucky or unlucky with FIP and BABIP etc. Also do you know if personality makes pitchers better or worse, will an intelligent pitcher be a lot better than an unintelligent one of similar ability?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to get to this video at some point. But in the mean time, FIP and BABIP are the two best luck indicators in OOTP. In terms of intelligence, as far as I know this impacts development, not performance.

Make sure that new players know that if they have anyone on the DFA list during the Rule 5 Draft that they will probably lose those players (if they are any good) to the Rule 5.

You may want to do a video on the house rules that you set up for yourself. I know you have certain constraints on Rule 5 players based on their age and I think you only allow one team option year. I am sure there are more.

I'm English and have been playing Football Manager games for aeons! Out of all the US sports baseball appeals to me most! I'm a bit bored of FM and looking for a different game experience. Do you set any rules for roster size or age/service limits in the minors? I've read that is a good way to keep your prospects from getting pummeled into oblivion by much older guys after I had multiple high potential prospects get destroyed as their team goes below .200 in the standings.

I do set limits, yeah...but I've never settled on anything I love. I typically try to set rookie ball age limits to like 21, and no limits in AAA, but have never landed on anything perfect for the other levels.

Two questions. One. Can you make a new season/schedule? Been GM for Mets for 6 years. 3 years with Rangers for FIRED for GOING OVER BUDGET by 500K even though I won World Series. Patient owner my arse!!! Still same schedule every year. Two. I have ootp 23. Can I migrate ootp23 directly to ootp25?

The schedules should be different every season. You can't go from 23 to 25, you'd have to go 24 > 24 > 25

I think this is a resolution issue. The view I have is default for my screen, and I am not sure how to adjust it. If you post this on the OOTP forums or Reddit, someone will know the answer to this.

Do you memorize your team that well, or do you use a spreadsheet or a note pad to know who you have in your system that "may" become a MLB player? I'm trying to guide the Dodgers to a WS in a fictional MLB sim, and I'm having a tough time tracking everything. Thank you!

In other videos he has (and I do the same) Shortlist your top prospects. Then on that list you can mark "disable ai promotion/demotion" of those players. That way, even if you let the AI move players up and down, you can still maintain control of your key guys. I usually track guys with 45 or 2.5 star potential or higher, and reevaluate mid season if any need removed or added to that list

To clarify, this is an in-game feature. You can right click a player and hit "add to default Shortlist" to get them onto it

Great question! ^^This answer above is right, I shortlist my top prospects. In terms of tracking depth otherwise, I'm a pen and paper guy, but with that I really only track my 40-man roster and prospects higher in the system who may be ready soon.

I play as manager only mode and is it normal for my owner, to always be furious at the beginning of the game?

It depends on the team and the owner's personality, but it's definitely common. I'm more of a GM, but I gave managing a few tries and it almost seems like you should either run with "can't be fired" for a bit or scout out your owner and team expectations before playing. Even being in "can't be fired" mode doesn't mean that your GM won't ruin things, either, which is true to life, but potentially frustrating.

Love your videos. My question you or anybody reading….I’m loving ‘24. I’m playing every game as the Rockies. It’s as difficult as you probably think. Can you carry over saves? If so, can I carry over my ‘23 season onto ootp25 even if I haven’t completed the ‘23 season?

You should be able to transfer a save from OOTP24 to OOTP25. Should be an option in the main menu. If you have an older version I don't think its possible.
