Can you explain what the difference is between just pitching around, pitching to contact, and the regular pitch to batter? Seems like when I pitch to contact I get killed, when I pitch around I still get killed and when I pitch to batter it’s all the same.

Pitching around is only for good control pitchers as they will try to throw pitches that are not good to hit for batters. However that can produce a lot more walks. Pitching to contact is all about making a high movement pitcher induce weak groundballs by throwing more strike pitches. This doesn't mean right down the middle but it does mean inducing contact with the pitch thrown. Really good if you have a groundball pitcher with high movement wanting a double play ground ball. Regular pitch to batter let's the AI control how to operate pitching to the batter. Consider that a mix of the two.

Why no matter what pitchers I have (very high rated pitchers), properly use them they all get constantly shell shocked, always give up over 8 runs a game? after 3 weeks into a season 80% of my pitchers will have an ERA over 5 and many over 7.

Game has pitching errors or glitches when you play the game vs simulate it. No matter what team you play or strategies you use your team will always get hit around and pitchers having ERAs over 8, many over 15. I had this happen even when playing with the 2011 4 aces Phillies.

Same issue. You're lucky to have them just over 5, all high rated pitchers with ERAs over 10 no matter what I do. Makes game unplayable.

In game stealing is flawed too. I ran a test, someone with both speed and stealing rated at 75 got caught stealing 2nd 72% of the time against a hold runner rated 35 and catcher arm 45.
