In these video tutorials, I normally use Bakels Premixes to save on time.
(Bakels is a bakery grade cake premix. Another great one is Allied Mills)

I use these butter based cakes above because they are sturdy under fondant and stable at room temperature, as are the muds.

OOZZING NUTELLA MUD CAKE RECIPE:
This fits 2x 7 inch cakes or 2x6 inch cakes with a little left over
260 grams butter
260 grams dark chocolate
190 ml water
2 tsp hazelnut flavouring or a tablespoon and a half of nutella
3 tsp instant coffee granules
500 grams caster sugar
1 cup buttermilk
10 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 eggs
160 grams self raising flour
160 grams plain flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
60 grams cocoa powder
pinch salt
Nutella ooze and drip:
4 tablespoons Nutella
1/4 cup of vegetable oil or canola oil. generally an oil that is pale and practically tasteless
I hope you guys enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed making it :D This is a very rich treat, so maybe slice this up a little thinner than you normally would haha. The coffee is in this recipe to enhance the flavour of the chocolate. You cannot taste the coffee at all once it has been baked into the cake :) If you give it a go, please let me know how you went and if you liked the recipe! Until next time lovely people xxx

Hi Raymen, than you for your lovely comment! You can add heated cream to the mix instead for sure :) (maybe pop the cream into the nutella, microwave for about 15 to 20 seconds and then blend it through).

thank you Chris :) the sponge is not like the regular soft style cake sponge. These cakes tend to be heavier, but are still nice and moist inside.

Hi hun, thank you for your lovely comment! this cake baked at 160 degrees Celsius for 1 hour and a half :) The depth of the cake tins are 3 inches deep (I also like to use 4 inch tall tins as well)

Hi hun, in place of egg you can use a banana per egg (I know random, but it does work ;)otherwise 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce is also a great egg replacer.

Amazing tutorial! Is it ok to cover other types of cake with the foil on top of the cake pan while baking?? I mean,u did that for mud cake. Can I do the same thing for oil based or sponge cakes too? Will it avoid the dome?

Hi Rosie, I'm looking to make this cake for my partner's birthday. Just wondering, would the nutella on the indie set if I store the cake in the fridge for a night prior to his birthday? Thank you

Hi lovely, the nutella on its own will harden in the fridge, so it won't come oozing out. I recommend mixing the nutella with vegetable oil (something pale and mild tasting so you can't tell) and then pour this into the middle. It will come oozing out all the same if mixed with oil :)

If I have to deliver the cake and it takes 2-3 hours before actually cake cutting. Then also Nutella will flow out like this or it will harden ??

Hi Anushree, thank you for your comment. The cake will stay in place, this shouldn't be an issue :) If you want extra protection, I advice lining the inside hole with dark chocolate ganache instead, or even dark chocolate, and letting that set. This will definitely be more than enough of a barrier to hold the Nutella in place and stop it from getting through the cake :)

Thank you so much Sheena! These scratch recipe mud cakes love to sit and set. I would recommend popping it into the fridge overnight once baked if you can. It will become very hard, but once warmed up to room temperature, it will be moist and soft again, but not too soft :)

Hi hun, yes that's totally fine. You might need to dilute the coffee a little if its straight up perculated coffee though, I think the taste of coffee will really show through.

Hi! I wanna try this oozing effect cake but i’m afraid the centre nutella will harden up after taking out from the fridge. Will the oil prevent the nutella from hardening up? Sorry if i sounded silly!

Hi hun, that doesn't sound silly at all :) you will need to let the cake sit at room temperature for a little bit to give it time to soften out. At first, it will be a little on the firm side, however the oil does help it to become oozy at room temp :)

Hi Joshua, thank you for your comment :) The recipes are all listed in the description box at the very end, leading to the video tutorials or the fillings, ganache / creams and cake recipes. For the oreo buttercream, you simply need to crush the oreos and add them into the buttercream. I hope that helps! x

There is no recipe or quantities of ingredients for the Oreo buttercream and we can’t just put “some” Oreo crumbs in our buttercream without a bit more info. Also, is there a recipe for the Nutella buttercream? I don’t see one under the video.
