Holly shit... finally some good fucking music in a video that features op1! Usually it’s just some generic four on the floor garbage but your shit slaps! Keep it up! 🔥

Great track. Plenty going on here. Great example of something that doesn't sound like it was made on the OP-1 Field.

Thanks! I was definitely trying to get away from the norm.

loved this. subscribed. downloaded the samples (thank you). watched a few vids and will work my way through the others. I still mainly record to cassette (guitar / Bugbrand modular / drum sampler / MS20) and use an old version of Audacity for editing things together (where you had no undo once file was saved) so the OP1 Field "limitations ... are not limitations".

Your stuff is truly amazing! Can u elaborate on your process? Do u record two track to a daw after and master? How do u get such a clean track after? Use any plugins? I’m following your stuff from now on. So creative.

Hey, thanks for the wonderful comment! For these videos, I've been recording everything into the OP-1 Field. No plugins, No DAW. If it's a live instrument, it goes through the onboard microphone. If it's the modular, I clock it from the OP-1 Field, and go straight into the line in. I try to get the volumes as close to what I like at the point of recording to minimize the responsibility of the mixer. Then I push everything through the onboard compressor which I LOVE to pieces. I think it sounds awesome, and I'm still wrapping my head around it, but that thing alone has influenced my writing so much. It really glues everything together, even though I know I drive it to death a bit, but I love that sound! I then record that music straight into a video on my phone to upload into Resolve for video editing. Some of the footage I shoot is from writing, and some is after the fact for effect. It's a lot of fun! Maybe one of these days I'll make a video about my process. Of course, overdubs with no "undo" feature can make for some happy accidents, but also completely ruin things so I'm learning to negotiate with my standards. It's super annoying, but there's nothing I can do about that without a DAW, and I'm trying to stay away from the DAW for my OP-1 Field adventures. I appreciate your interest and I am always really excited to talk about this stuff, so reach out anytime!

@@NovakTheEnjoyer thanks for taking the time answering. I also don’t quite understand how the drive works on my field but I love the effect. It would be great to do a video showing your process. Are you a pro musician by the way? Great chops on guitar and bass!
@TheNamrebug Жыл бұрын
Also how do you get such a great bass sound? Pedal or straight into the field as well?
@NovakTheEnjoyer Жыл бұрын
@@TheNamrebug I put the bass through my Ampeg BA115 and then record it in through the mic of the Op-1 Field. For this video in particular, I’m using an OCD pedal for the distortion. In terms of work, I am a composer/producer. You can see all of that at softpowermusiccompany.com
