Great video! The EDM scene isn't missing more high-tech equipment decades ago with half what is available now. Veteran dj producers were able to invent and define whole new genres. What the edm scene is missing are professional and artistic ears and less nepotism. #papaiwanttobeadj.

Battering Ram sounds fantastic.. BUT.. and it’s a big round full bodied but.. No kick module or plugin for that matter needs a good bit of processing to sound right. Anything from basic stuff like EQ, Compression, saturation/distortion to more involved stuff like reverb and delay etc. listen to any kick module and compare it with any kick from your fav techno track …. Lots of work to get from point a to point b. *i just grabbed up both those beat surfing 🏄 vsts.. barely scratched the surface. There’s LOT in there especially when getting into the changes per hit

Yeah I guess I also was hesitant about how to storytell with modular (it can get very dry very quickly). I'm not going to be a gear reviewer or hardware synth channel - so now that I've found this personal storyline ("I want to build a liveset for myself") it's exciting, and I've got enough film experience now to try something like this!
@tru7hhimself2 ай бұрын
@@OscarUnderdog i wansn't even fearing you'd go into the gear review direction. we have enough people who do that already, and do it well. your channel has always been about using whatever tool or technique to make good (and interesting!) techno. i'm confident you'll do that with modular as well, even if it's not quite as easy to show what's going on with hardware compared to a screen. anways, i'm looking forward to seeing more eurorack in your future videos.

Absolutely lovely demo of the Battering Ram! It's more expensive than any module in my (roughly) 6 Eurorack systems, but damn does it sound the part. I originally got the Befaco Kickall a few years ago to achieve a similar thing and while it absolutely can give the Battering Ram a run for its money in some scenarios, I've found it way more useful as an "808 bass" in the rack rather than an actual kickdrum. I really do wish Shakmat did a DIY version of the Battering Ram; maybe I just need to start saving up! Also, shoutout to the AFA Baron Samedi I see in your rack! As one of your Indian viewers, its great to see you showing love to *THE* Indian distortion legends in Eurorack rn

@@OscarUnderdog it really does! I bought the V1 Godeater pedal 5 years ago and I wanted to get the Eurorack version but that was just too far out of my budget, so I ended up simply 3D printing a Eurorack panel for the pedal and made a custom power cable, and it literally worked first try; the entire circuit being made to handle Eurorack +12V power and Eurorack level audio just proved to me how much care and thought goes into AFA's designs (well that and getting to talk to the actual people working there lol)
