I don’t own any of their synths, but they have shown in the past they do update their software and add new features. Edit: this also would have to be way reduced in cost as I just realized what the cost of a maschine plus was compared to this. I’m wondering if they are getting hit with chip shortage cost increases.

This is why I stopped watching many producer/review channels. They NEVER really criticize a product, like they don't care if their subscribers buy it and regret it later. Why? in the end, its all about the gear that a person would use. Sure, you can buy bunch of other things for that price, but if they are there just collecting dust - even the cheaper price is not worth it. Thanks to that "simplistic" interface TE made music making concepts accessible to people who would not pick a regular synth up - is that a bad thing? No. If you do music professionally and make money from it, and OP-1 is what you need to achieve the goals - you won't care about the price, as it will pay for itself. So I assume all the hate is because people can't afford it? Otherwise, if you don't care for the device, why bother posting comments about it?

I don't need it because I have the OG-1. It sets next to my MPC Live II. The Live II has a way better screen. Way better connectivity (the USB ins/outs w/ 1 cable!) Way more memory & storage, SD card, better fx, better sample time, better speakers, better sound quality, & so on. It's better in every way but 1. With all the MPC's advantages the OP-1 makes better beats imo. Idk how to explain it but it just does. Maybe it's more fun or maybe it's just more effecient. I generally use the MPC to polish/garnish what I built on the OP. The biggest frustration to me w/ the new Field is it's only 4 tracks still. Would it be so hard to give it 8,12, or 16? Give me 16 & I could finish a beat w/o a DAW or MPC. I just can't believe nobody's taken it's formula & made it more powerful for less $$. The OP-1 was the best selling synth in the world last year even after being 10 years old. The reason why is because it just works well to make music. Somehow, some way it does. I don't disagree w/ this video but in my life 2 things worked better than the other stacks of gear I've owned. The ASR-X Pro & the OP-1. To each they own.

That laugh after “No. Fuckin. Way.” 🤣 that brought joy to *my* heart. I honestly feel the same way. If TE would have sold the original at half the price they would have sold 3X as many units or more. Always been interested in the stuff they make, but what we needed was a price CUT, not a price BUMP! Jeez Louise.

how would they afford to? I don't believe even at 3x the production level, they would reach an economy of scale to bring it to market at a reasonable price.

Roland and Akai are killing it right now! But that OP-1 Field is just an insult to musicians. That little piece of stool is more expensive than a MPC X.... So many companies bringing out heat these days, and teenage engineering acts like their OP-1 is made out of unobtanium. GTFO 🤣🤣🤣 that piece of crap should be 200 dollars at most. I don't even hate that thing, but that price brings my piss to a boil 😂

Notice that the Maschine+ has gone down in price by $200 recently while the MPC One has gone up that same amount since it was introduced?
@AveMcree2 жыл бұрын
it's still $1400 on NI's website and $1300 at Sweet Water. Tbh, it should be cheaper.
@Randuski Жыл бұрын
2k is too much for sure. But TE is like a luxury brand. And the thing is, people will continue to buy them. So they'll charge what they want. I bought an op1 field because it just speaks to me idk. Also, there are veeeery few keyboard based instrument samplers. And the op1 is the only portable mini keyboard sampler

How do I link it with the MPC One via USB adapter into input on mpc.. Also, I would eurorack with another synth

Hi, yet there is Synthstrom Deluge too, amazing chunk of gear, testified by many. Have you tried it? What's your opinion on it?

Didn’t catch your last stream on the syntakt - did you send it back? Wondering if it grew on you at all since your initial few videos since I’ve been eyeing it
@AveMcree2 жыл бұрын
No I kept it... I don't think the Elektron Syntakt is trash or even close to being bad. I just hate their corny fanbase.
@__cal292 жыл бұрын
@@AveMcree I never go on Reddit, but I went on there the other day to scope out some opinions and ya you are right about their fanbase haha worse then the normal Reddit crowd which is saying something. I’m thinking about pairing the syntakt with my Live 2 since I’ve been getting more into sound design. I just wanted your opinion since we make similar music and you always keep it real

I understand what you’re trying to say but every device you listed is a MIDI sequencer based device. Every single one of them is an iteration of an age old style of making electronic music. The Op-1 still doesn’t have any true direct competition because no one is doing the tape emulation thing. $2000 is expensive but all I’ve wanted since I bought an OP-1 10 years ago was a stereo OP-1 and this is it. It’s definitely worth $2000 for me because I get an experience no other gear has given me. I own a Maschine+, every piece of Elektron gear except the Rytm, I’ve owned multiple Deluges, MPC live and Live 2, I have a Dirtywave M8, Isla S2400, OP-Z, they are all basically doing the same thing. The OP-1 is still super unique.
@knobsbuttons26322 жыл бұрын
Makes since I love the op products even as someone who can’t afford them BUT I also accept they are bad value for money. That argument is super valid now days value for money is extremely important to the average person and even more so to the average producer especially when it comes to gear.
@ChumpyDumps2 жыл бұрын
@@knobsbuttons2632 value is in the eye of the beholder. All hardware is a luxury. Making music in general is a luxury. No one bats an eye when someone buys a Moog Matriarch utilizing 1970s technology for $2200. No one seems to care that the Rossum SP-1200 reissue which is literally a remake of the 1980s sampler with 6 seconds (might be 12 seconds now) is selling for $4000. And fact is, no one cares how your music is made. They just want to hear it. You can do things on the OP-1 that aren’t possible or would be ridiculously hard to do on an MPC Live. Like I’ve stated, I own and have used a lot of gear. You can look at a tech sheet of features and say “hey, this one is clearly better” but if it ends up not sounding that great (MPC, Deluge) and ends up not being inspiring than it doesn’t matter, that’s bad value for the individual. At the end of the day I get music made on the OP-1 that I couldn’t get made elsewhere. That’s value to me. Not to mention over the course of life my OP-1 has increased in value since when I originally bought it. Any MacBook or MPC live isn’t gonna be worth shit in 5 years.

its a trade in program for everyone that bought the original at $1200. its been established you'd spend $1200, so just sell your current one for $800 and throw it in with the $1200 for a new one and boom, youve now got the update. just dont think about this too much LOL

For that price it better come with its own small child to harvest adrenochrome from.

Damn Ave I was waiting for you to make this video and, am equaling laughing until I cough (and, I don't even smoke). TE rely on ripping off hipsters who buy their toys. (The rest of us use our better judgment based on features and, experience). There is a sucker, skipskag, scallywag, mark ass trick, and herb born every minute.

You can get an sp404, and analogue heat from electron, after everything still come out for less than what you would spend on an Op-1 Field. I really hate this "premium" label as a means to just slap on additional cost. WIth their mixer too I think it's a little bit near $4K? It definitely meets some people's needs, but just feels like you are paying more for aesthetics, brand ownership over function and something that will last/ be used often. Also good luck with TE's customer support if and when the damn thing breaks.

I got a OP-1 and play it like an instrument. I try not to use it like a sampler or a groove box. There’s no way I’ll pay 2k just because someone on KZbin told me to buy it or it’s new. That’s just me outdated and don’t care haha

Insane price. Instead I could buy a mac mini, a decent display, speakers and a midi controller and emulate op-1 into it :D
@boarderking1332 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Why do people fall for this? For 2k I can get a PC and controllers to emulate any synth in want. But ohhh the "workflow!" Shut up. If you can't figure out a different workflow you're just dumb.
