His "mistake" could have easily cost her more than her hair, she could have been seriously injured, lost her life, her reputation and livelyhood. Not once during all this planning, didn't he ever think to ask, not once did he ever try to get solid proof and instead allowed a very dangerous situation to take place based on flimsy evidence from someone who clearly didn't like his partner.
