Op-ed video: Labour, Israel and the problem of David Lammy

Joe Gill, a journalist at Middle East Eye, criticises the UK Labour Party for continuing Conservative policies in the Middle East, particularly regarding Israel and Gaza.
He argues that Keir Starmer’s government is unlikely to make meaningful changes to UK policy in the region. He points out that ongoing military support and sales to Israel, which has been accused of genocide, implicate Labour ministers in international crimes.
The criticism extends to Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who has been reluctant to suspend arms export licences to Israel. He has stated that Israel is in “one of the toughest neighbourhoods in the world” and has focused on Israel’s security concerns, while avoiding discussion of Israel's actions, including the killing of more than 49,500 Palestinians and 500 Lebanese since October.
According to Gill, there is no longer any doubt that international law requires the UK and other western powers to stop supporting Israel and providing cover for its actions. “Lammy knows this,” Gill says, but he continues to align himself with Netanyahu anyway.

They also fund every sin in the scripture, and are actually even guilty of corrupting their own holy books. They (Jews) answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. (Bible John 8;39-40) And when it is said to them (children of Israel), Believe in what Allah has revealed, they say: We believe in that which was revealed to us; and they deny what is besides that, while it is the truth verifying that which they have. Say to them: Why then did you kill Allah's Prophets before if you were indeed believers? (Qur'an 2;91) Conclusion; The most worthy of the holy land of Jerusalem is the real believers who accept all the prophets, and obey God. Muslims most fit this because they believe in all the previous Prophets and the final one Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon all of them). Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 132: وَوَصَّىٰ بِهَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بَنِيهِ وَيَعْقُوبُ يَا بَنِيَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَىٰ لَكُمُ الدِّينَ فَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ And the same did Ebrahim enjoin on his sons and so did Yaqoub/Jacob. O my sons! Surely Allah has chosen for you this faith, therefore die not unless you are Muslims. Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 133: أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَاءَ إِذْ حَضَرَ يَعْقُوبَ الْمَوْتُ إِذْ قَالَ لِبَنِيهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن بَعْدِي قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ إِلَٰهَكَ وَإِلَٰهَ آبَائِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ Nay! Were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub/Jacob, when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your God and the God of your fathers, Ebrahim and Ismail and Ishaq, one God only, and to Him do we submit (Muslims). As a Christian ,with many Muslim friends for decades, I'm sickened and shocked by Starmer, Lammy, Sunak, Johnson et al. These people are too cosy with Israel. Indeed, many of them are compromised due to having family connections with Israel, or belonging to the 'Friends of Israel' lobby group. Obviously, the latter fills their pockets and bank balances. Spain and Ireland, some may say more religious with a strong Christian ethic, are more courageous and moral in their approach. Genocide is genocide. No amount of obfuscation makes it right. Putting profit from arms sales over morality negates any standing one may have had in the world.
