The YTA ruling for Story 1 is wild. OP didn't ask to be born nor was able to choose their family. That was all the result of their parents. OP had a right to know why their life was changed significantly. That is their business. The parents' actions have consequences. You can't say you're absolved of telling the truth when your actions affected the person. To tell the op that they were in the wrong for wanting an explanation is absurd. Its their life and they have a right to know about things in their life. Its like someone telling a person to practice a religion. If the person asks why they should, you don't call them the AH when they want reason as to whether or not they should practice said religion. Its ridiculous.

The critical point that's missing is that they decided OP is TA before the news about the parent minor situation. For forcing her parents to tell her why they were divorcing, trying to snoop and be intrusive. But as an objective person - her original post did not show them as shady characters, just parents who wanted to hide secrets from their child. I suspected maybe OP was AP child or one of them had another child with AP etc. The minor and stalking issues were so unexpected
@ashencloak667
@ashencloak667 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, all that stuff that happened after she went snooping proved why it's important to give details to your kids during separation. Especially when they are grown ass teenagers. It can be complicated sometimes but if you're going to completely upend your kid's life then your privacy takes a back seat. A minimal explanation required. Otherwise, it's safe for the kid to assume the worst.

OP needs to cut Maria out of her life and actually trust her husband. Dude did nothing wrong in this story and is now being treated like an assaulter or a cheater. If the husband actually cheated he would've said in the Facebook dms "No" rather than "What are you talking about?" because at the time he had no idea his wife was even looking at the dms. I was SO this kid in story one when I was young 😂. I remember scrounging for change during book fairs to buy just one more book if I could while other kids were buying cheap hand toys and novelty pencil eraser tops. I had a Shakespeare sonnet memorized in my last year of middle school. I can still recite it to this day. I studied geology books in grade school, trying to memorize the layers of the earth and what it was made of because I loved rocks. I couldn’t understand a lot of it but I still tried to start a rockhounds club at school but no one else would pay attention at meetings because they were just kids 😂. And I was 100% this no nonsense and “say it like it is” to people early on. I despised lying because my mom did it constantly over every stupid little thing. So I would either get myself in trouble by telling on myself if forced to talk or I wouldn’t say anything at all and plead the fifth amendment 😂. I hated lying when I lied to my principal about her beating me, because it felt wrong on my lips. I had to sacrifice my own code of ethics for her on more than one occasion and I hated it every time. And it was me fighting her battles and telling her how f-ing stupid her decisions were whether that got me hit or not-I would say it anyway. And it was me who threw her abusive boyfriend in jail when she wouldn’t. She cried and begged while I dialed them up and I did it anyway. She could have hit me but I think even she knew a line had been crossed this time. She was afraid of how “done” I was and how hard I put my foot down that my tolerance had reached its limit. She still blames me to this day for leaving her after she lied to get him out of jail/trouble. And most likely for not being there like usual so that she could have some protection from her sh-tty relationship so she could keep it and keep him without suffering the full consequences of that choice. After I was gone he punched all of her front teeth out of her head and nearly choked her into an early grave. After that-she left him. But she was mad AT ME for losing him. If I wasn’t a buffer in between them and fighting her battles for her then it meant he could just have at her and let it rip. And so he did. And she’s no smarter now than she ever was to this day. And after a certain age I would warn my dad’s girlfriends of how he was. That they weren’t special and he only ever loved himself and cheated on all of his girlfriends. After awhile, he didn’t let me meet them until they were so far into the relationship because his preteen daughter was c-ck blocking him on the regular 😂

In story 1 I'm dubious. Maybe I'm paranoid, but anything that comes out after an YTA vote that seemingly absolves the OP of any wrong doing is very sus. People can, and will, lie to save face; even with strangers online. Without the update, I'd side with the first comment. YTA with a giant asterisk. 14 year olds aren't classically the best at dealing with emotions in a healthy way. A lot of it is new to them, and they're just figuring it all out as they go. Therapy would definitely help. They are clearly in that problem phase, and the disdain they have for their parents is palpable, even before the update. I mean, they were 100% ready to go scorched earth on their parents even before the "update". Also, people can, and do, fall out of love without any one being at fault. Not saying it's what happened, just pointing it out.

It's safe to assume that 99% of stories on Reddit are false, I agree, but I still don't think OP is TA even just going off the initial post. I respect the Hell out of anyone who has that much commitment to the truth (what can I say? I was a pre-JJ Star Trek kid - "the first duty" and all of that. I'm also a bit of a free speech absolutist), and it really isn't reasonable to leave a 14 year old completely in the dark as to why her life has just been summarily obliterated. Furthermore, if we are to assume that everything OP posted IS true, then her parents could've just said, "Yeah, we both cheated and are out of love" and OP might not've bothered to investigate it further. OP made it very clear to their parents that drastic action would be taken if they didn't give her at least _something_ to go off of, and that's exactly what eventuated (again, assuming the whole story is true, which is always doubtful at best), so nobody should be surprise Pikachu facing at that.

What's the difference between 'groomer' and 'p3do'? Asking because someone elsewhere in the comments corrected themselves. I feel that the only difference is 'p3do' is an emotionally charged word and has a legal meaning, or at least the full word does. 'Groomer' gets used quite a lot as a slur against LGBT by frightwing AH, which is almost always projection on the frightwing side... the word is also more insidious because it's not as emotionally charged, just saying

P3do is a noun, a person who is romantically/sexually attracted to children. Grooming is comes from the verb "to groom," the action of normalizing sexual behavior to child in this specific context, (however non-sexual instances do occur.) The two tend to get used interchangeablly since P3dos typically have to groom children into thinking the sexual behavior is okay to avoid getting caught, so many P3dos are by proxy groomers as a result.

Story 1: Arrogant little narcissist. Trying to strongarm loved ones to discuss private matters is crappy.

What the fuck are you talking about? Refusing to tell your underage child why you're divorcing is absurd behavior. They deserve to know what's going on. Maybe if she was a toddler it would be understandable, but she's 14!

She caught a pedophile using her wits at 14 years old. What did you do at 14? In case you haven't get it yet, you can be an asshole to save life and stop a crime. Not necessarily but allowed if you need too be. OP is smart, she knows both her parent are slimy to begin with thus her initial response to the divorce announcement was to interrogates them.

Well turns out the dad was sleeping with a minor and the mom was stalking and harassing her affair partner. Bad enough for police to get involved. What OP wasn’t that bad compared to what her parents did and had OP didn’t do what she did the 17 year old would still be with a predator and who knows what would’ve happened to Mom’s affair partner

@@low-keydrama1260 all qell and good, but we don't praise police for illegal searches and shooting people for "looking suspicious." Results aside, she was massively out of line.
