OP GLOOM STALKER RANGER Build Guide: Baldur's Gate 3

Here is an OP GLOOM STALKER RANGER Build Guide in Baldur's Gate 3! I give a few different options here for ways that you can go with it because you could add in the fighter to get a action surge allowing you to have the craziest nova damage. Going up to Ranger 9 gets us the spell fear which is highly underrated. It makes enemies drop their weapon which you can pick up and make them useless. This build excels in the first round of combat when you get the gloomstalker extra attack that deals a 1d8 increased damage. You can end some encounters on turn 1 with the increased initiative that you get from this class. I think this is one of the best builds for Astarion in BG3 if you want to keep him a rogue as I add in 3 levels of it to get the thief bonus action

If you use Ensnaring Strike as a spell, you really need to take Bounty Hunter as favored enemy ASAP as it gives the enemies disadvantage on the ensnaring save DC roll, which is more than "a good thing to have". it's downright insane. I would also go for the fire resistance instead of beast tamer. Fire is one of the most common damage source in the game and having resistance to it is really good. For the gear, I don't recommend using dual hand crossbows until you've taken both Thief and a dip into Fighter for the Two-Weapon fighting style. Until you get both of these, having 2 weapons doesn't really make up for the loss of damage from using Harold or another heavy crossbow, and the fact that you can hide during fights to get advantage and take more sneak shots. I only switch to hand crossbows in early act 2, when you can do Ranger 5 / Rogue 3, and then take the dip into Fighter once you reach level 9. By that time your dexterity and proficiency bonus should be high enough that you no longer need to hide every turn for higher hit chance, and you can always use the risky ring anyway.

I always think the gloom stalker is best paired with the assassin rogue but will have to give this a try too, it looks quite versatile! Never thought of using two small crossbows, I mainly use the heavy ones. One thing I'd like to note is that I think crossbow expert is underrated and can be quite nice instead of ability improvement - if you're not using armour and aren't too fussed about appearance / armour etc, you can use the graceful cloth clothing to get the last two points of Dex as long as you wear it! You also get advantage on all dex checks outside of combat. You can get it pretty early on too and respec later for armour :) In terms of requests, I personally would love to see what you would do with the life domain cleric if you ever get the chance as it's my second favourite behind the gloomstalker :D I also pretty much always have one in my party LOL

Your love for the Light Cleric shows how different we players are and how good this game is. Making it possible for us all to find classes and builds we love to play. I have played well over 1000 hours so far, but I am far from done and bored by this game. I love playing cleric as well, but I love the Light Cleric the most with Tempest Cleric as the other Cleric subclass I like to play. A Gloomstalker/Assasin/Fighter build is the one I have enjoyed the most so far. But I love playing a Fire or Storm Sorcerer as well. A pure Fighter is also very fun. Just now am I testing out a Bard/Gloomstalker build that I am considering to put some Rogue and or Fighter in as well. I am not doing what many build creators do, where they are only making their builds in act 3 and often very late in act 3 and then just test them out there and then and not testing them out by creating a new character and play from the start. Way to often I see content creators presenting their fancy builds, but it is obvious that they have not tested them from start on Tactician or Honor Mode.

Gloomstalker + assassin gives huge first turn damage but the gloomstalker with the thief is more consistent damage. Two bonus actions opens up things quite a bit! Crossbow expert is underrated I’ve taken it on a few builds in the last because close range arrow of many targets can be really useful. I’ll work on a life cleric build for you! I prefer tempest or light cleric but the life cleric is still great! Cleric is an S tier class
