One of the truly great aircraft the Royal Air Force has flown. We will miss its versatility and I am not sure we have a proper replacement.

@@magecraft2 definitely not a smooth take over with the F35 only just in the UK and the Typhoon just getting new weapons capability.

@@davidhouseman4328 If the F-35 is going to use its stealth does that not limit its payload? Must admit not looked into it to much but hey would not be the first time we lost a massive amount of capability, after all it only took 10 years to get a replacement maritime patrol aircraft :)

@@magecraft2 it does, so against something like ISIS it isn't as much of an upgrade over a Tornado with targeting pod.

Mabe someone can answer this question. Why do they want to put the F35 in there for combat? They have the Typhoon which is much cheaper to operate and a very capable air to ground platform.

Experience, they learn a lot from active combat that you just do not get from training.
