That's awesome. Whenever I go to GC they never have any more than 3 or 4 synths available for demo. I've always found it strange how many MIDI keyboards there are on display by comparison, with no way to play anything with them. I really wish they'd expand the synth/drum machine/other electronic gear section of their stores.

The one thing that has impressed me across all the OP-Z videos that I've seen is the timing/syncopation. So groovy -- like the Volca Sample and PO-33 in their own way. It's getting more difficult for me to decide between the OP-Z and the Critter & Guitari Organelle (which sounds great, can also be used as a live f/x unit, is infinitely expandable, and costs $100 less).
@howardanderson30616 жыл бұрын

Howard Anderson LOL - IKR! :-0 My big regret about the OP-Z is that it doesn’t bounce individual tracks to separate audio files. And , even if you mute/solo tracks to achieve individual track exports, their is apparently a five file limit for bouncing on the OP-Z. :-(

Hi Ricky, for a beginner, what’s the pros and cons of the OP-Z vs Novation Circuit? Thank you!
@tigmil81164 жыл бұрын
I dont have an op-z, so I cant comment on that, but I think the novation circuit is the best starter groovebox. Before it I was using a behringer td-3 and a few pocket operators. I for wheveter reason do not completely get the pocket operators and I feel like the worlds biggest idiot because people make them look so easy. For me personally I believe it's the sequencer I dont get. I understood how to program a bassline on a roland tb-303 copy better than I understood the teenage engineering stuff I got. When I got my circuit I watched maybe a handful of videos about it mostly in the background of painting or refurbishing a bass guitar for a friend. My circuit comes and I open it up and made a song in like 10 minutes and the thing doesnt come with real instructions and I just was messing with myself. I think the circuit is the best starter box for that reason... it's almost so self explanatory it's hard not to figure it out quickly. My setup has expanded now and I have a bunch more stuff and I still favor it. I mean this is going to vary from person to person, one person's favorite tool wont be the next... but in my experience the novation circuit was something easier to wrap my head around then anything teenage engineering I ever used. I think the teenage engineering stuff sounds phenomenal and if you get it the potential is way beyond the what the circuit can do, but if you're looking for something easy I'd buy the circuit. I'd recommend it to anyone just starting to create dawless music.

@KarlSadler2 жыл бұрын
yo! Kinda intrigued, did you ever pick one up in the end? I just snagged one second hand and giving it a run through, seems good so far. I'm not into it's built in synths, but chuck your own sounds in there and think of it as a portable sequencer for sketching out ideas, with maybe a placeholder sound engine, it's not bad. I wish it could export it's MIDI though to throw over to Ableton and take those ideas and run with them.

@RickyTinez5 жыл бұрын
Keep me posted on what you think about them both. I find that the OP1 is a bit more of a recorder while the Z is a sequencer right?
@Rgdonaire_075 жыл бұрын
Enrique Martinez Music I’m actually blown away by the op-z, way better than I thought. Workflow is way easier than op-1 to make music which is what I really care about. Synth engines are kind of similar but overall sound quality is far superior. I’m fine giving up on the 4 track tape recorder and the sample mangling capabilities on the op1. Even though I really enjoyed my time with the op1, it was collecting dust in my studio. Eventually I got bored of all the struggle to write tracks (copy, pase, cut, noises, limited tracks...)... so after one night of the op-z I’m very happy. Let’s see in the future :)

great video...and very decent of you giving shoutouts to other channels! what would you say about digitakt vs. OP-Z?
@RickyTinez6 жыл бұрын
Give credit where it's due! The digitakt is way faster in terms of straight forward song creation. And the Digi smokes the Z in connectivity ease. If I didn't have either and I had to choose just one to start with it would be the Digi, but if I had to be stuck on an island maybe the Z
@SONWU6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your answer Enrique. That's not what I expected to hear. I thought the Z would be faster....but then again everybody has their own workflow...and you definitely seem to be lightning fast on the digitakt!
