OPACHKI - T-34-85 in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The T-34-85 in War Thunder is a classic Russian medium tank with no bells or whistles. It's as much as a tank needs to be.
The T34 brandishes an 85mm gun with decent penetrating power and a hefty amount of explosive mass. It's practically a nuke round because once you actually hit something, it's more than likely going to one shot.
Its suspension travel and lack of depression make this a fairly unstable platform to shoot from the move and the armour is just enough to stop most rounds fired at you so long as you put the work in to angle your hull and turret.

6:08 There were T-34s with 100 and 122mm gun made in Egypt, unconfirmed reports of T-34 with german 88mm as well as 75mm, Brits tried to put 17 pounder on it too. Surprisingly noone tried to put 152mm gun. As it's still in service of some rather obscure countries, and was equipped succesfuly with 100mm gun of which all versions are pretty similar we can be sure someone made version equipped with D-10T2S capable of firing APFSDS

I doubt any of those were ever put in production and used other than the 17 pounder and 75 mm versions, all of the other guns had so much recoil they would just destroy the turret ring, such as the 100 mm

Vietnam is one of many maps in the game where it's like yeah you're kinda spawn camping, but also they can snipe over most of the entire map from their spawn in fantastic hull down positions so like you kinda have to some times to keep them from sniping out your whole team. Sometimes spawn camping isn't your fault it's Gaijin's.

PRO TIP for T-34-85: OVERANGLE when going around a corner. Just show your front at some ~25-30° angle baiting the shot. Enemy Tiger/Panther thinks he can pen you and will shoot, bouncing. Works 8/10 times.

The weirdest guns mounted on a T-34 I can remember are the Egyptians mounting a 100mm AT gun and the Cubans doing something similar with 122mm D-30 cannons.

The most obscure T34 variant is actually a tank with 2 mig 21 engines used to put out oil fires but if it has to be a gun, there is one that was outfitted with an 8.8cm gun from what I can find

I know there were a few weird variants of the T-34. Cuba put a 130mm howitzer in some, Egypt put a 100mm AT gun in some and also a 122mm howitzer, Finland put the German 75mm in some T-34-85s, not quite a gun but Hungary fitted two MIG-21 engines to some to fight oil fires, the Germans put a flakvierling on one, the Polish put a snorkel on one (again not a gun), Romania planned to put 120mm and 150mm howitzers on some, Syria put 122mm howitzers and slay armour on some, Former Yugoslavia copied the T-34-85 but with the mantlet and fun from an M47, and a version of the T-34-85 with an M2 browning on the turret and a new chassis based on the T-55 and a night vision device and also appliqué armour.

Surprisingly, after the t-34-85 things didnt change much besides the t-34-100, there were also multiple variants called OT-34's that had flamethrowers in place of the hull machine guns. There were both 76's and 85's fitted with flamethrowers. Another thing I saw that was surprising was that three were some t34s retrofitted as late as 1969 with new hardware and components. There were also old t34s retrofitted to be Armored recovery vehicles and even some fitted with cranes. In my opinion the most interesting looking one is an egyptian model known as the t-100, basically a bug modernish gun slapped into a t34s turret. There were also a number of self propelled howitzer variants of the t34 produced. Please like so others can learn about some interesting tank history and so Odd can have his question answered

Flakpanzer T-34 - This German conversion was a single T-34 made into a self-propelled antiaircraft gun armed with a 2 cm Flakvierling 38 in a new armored turret with an open top. The single vehicle manufactured was used by PzJagAbt 653 in July 1944 :)

In my opinion, the most interesting T-34 variant was the one that became the world’s most powerful fire fighting tank. It was used to put out oil well fires and used 2 MiG-21 jet engines to shoot titanic amounts of pressurized water. It was designed by the Hungarians and was called “Big Wind”

T34-85 is a very situational tank. You can do absolutely wonders in that thing on the right map. On the wrong map however it's quite the struggle unless you find a good sniping spot and know your weakspots on opposing tanks. It was better before the whole ammo change though.

A somewhat strange T-34 that comes to mind is the ripcord T-34-85. A few countries still use the T-34-85, and have to reuse spent casing for rounds. As a result, it's too dangerous to have anyone in the tank so the gun is fired via a ripcord on the outside.

@@OggdanCow its just other nations have explosives in their shells, so if you pen you can usually 1 hit. British tanks usually take 2-3 hits to kill unless youre lucky or you know where to aim. Like at 5.3, every nation basically has a shell with decent pen that will 1 hit most tanks, while the british have an AP round that can pen everything, but has terrible post pen damage. So, you play the UK enough youll tend to learn where to aim to limit how many shots it takes to kill

@@sexyt-rexy9205 that's bullshit. Birtish tanks have the ability to melt armor earlier then all other nations. Hell the comet gets 220+mm pen at 5.3/(was 5.0 for 3 years). The only thing playing British tank that requires braincell is knowing where to hit. It's the same with aphe tanks, their pen isn't end all be all. You still have to aim, as it's shown in this T-34-85. And let's not get into the absolute handhold 6.7 fully stabilized lineup slinging apds at enemies where you won't ever see another stabilized German tank in a full upteir, including Italians and soviets AND French. Playing Britain is a handhold.

T34-100 was the largest Gun fitted to the T34 , the gun proved to be too large for the chassis , T44 was put into full Research after that .

Hey you simply need to do one thing and get it into your head low ground is tank ground you hug the low ground like it is everything and generally even on hilly terrain if you are in low ground you won the only problem is not bouncing and not penetrating but you have a 85 so that only happens in uptiers

Sweden put a 120 mm Rheinmetall L/44 on a centurion mk10 with ERA when they tried out the armour on the strv 122, it should be in the game as a premium imo since germany has the leopard 1 with the same gun. Not a t-34 but still pretty interesting

Tips from me : if you see every tank that you cant penet from front , just go flank it. That always work for me ))))))
