Mazda mx-5 could be similar, but not comes to 6, it takes more or less 0-100 in 6,8 with 184, calibra is awesome!!!

Yeh it’s mainly due to the extremely light construction and negative number of safety features lmao. One stop sign and the car is cut in half probably

@@quesokid4959 90s cars are far safer than you imagine. Even much older cars are a lot safer than they're given credit for. Furthermore, road signs are specifically engineered to break at the base in the event a car hits it to avoid injuring the occupants or skewering an unrelated party.

@@quesokid4959 i seen crash with new Toyota and calibra (or opel astra classic, i don't remember) the driver of Toyota died and of ... Opel survived, don't know the speed, hitted with left side with both cars

People forget the very optimistic speedometer on opel those days… still my dream car from childhood. But also remember that bmw’s at the same time were unrealistic….

My first ever car that I bought was a Calibra with C20NE, the most reliable engine. Was imported from Germany somewhere around 2005-2006. Paid only 375€ for it and fixed it properly before got my driver's license. After I got my license, I had it for 2 years and drove around 50,000 kilometers with it. Never left me on the road (except the one time I ran out of gas lol)

It's a tuned example. With all wheel drive. Just look for "C20LET" and tuning. You can get silly amounts of power out of that engine. Puts most modern 2.0 turbo petrols to shame...

This is a neat looking car, wish we could have gotten them in the USA. Opel was a derivative of GM so I'm sure the quality wasn't very great, but still. I love 90's cars, terrible plastics and all 😭

I’ve always liked Opels, decades ago owned a Manta coupe 1.8 then years later an Omega 3.0 v6. Both can’t be called reliable vehicles as there were always failures big and small, here and there. But somehow my passion for it still remains.

On my second redtop Calibra... garage set fire to my first..... some special right for era alloys and other stuff and the new one is sex on wheels.... But still not yet as sexy as the original.

I had 2 Calibras, a C20NE and a C20XE. The times here are not correct, the engines are all made. C20NE standard condition under 9 seconds never. C20XE is a top engine some tend to go up in power but I have never seen one that goes to 100 in 7sec. In standard condition, maybe in a Kadett 16v GSI but not in a Calibra 😉

Niemals schafft ein Orig.8ventiler Cali diese Zeit.. und der V6 ist auch nicht Serie also getuned. Tacho Zeiten sind für die katz..

Genau so ist es. Ein C20NE schafft im leichten Kadett 9,0 und der XE bist minimal schneller als der NE Kadett. V6 haben früher beim 1/4 Meile Ballern immer die Rückleuchten gesehen und mein Kadett war 7,0 auf 100 mit 167PS.
