Neat styling on that Opel. The type of engine is'nt mentioned, but it looks like the ubiquitous small'block Chevy. Definitely a unique car !

great-looking car! my folks lived in Germany in the 1950s, and though they owned a vw, my dad always spoke highly of the Opel kapitan.... this is the fist time I've seen one, and finally understand my dad's enthusiasm

I have had two Opel Kapitan's, in the military in Germany I had a 1960 model Kapitan, and in the UK I had a 1959 version right hand drive, both great cars. The '59 model was a better shape than the '60 model. The only thing I did to both of them was to fit two six volt batteries in tandem.

My dad had Opel Kapitan 1956 model. I have driven it too It is in a finnish carmuseum now.

here you can see very well to which family the thing belongs. its brothers chevrolet, oldsmobile, pontiac, buick and cadillac are exactly matching ! with wheels that visually go more into the original would underline that ! very nice work ! the smallblock v8 fits as if it had always belonged to it !

The side window treatment is GM hardtops of 49 Cad, Buick, and Olds 98, and 50 - 52 Pontiac, small Olds, and Chevrolet hardtops, windshield is 50 - 53 Cad, Buick, Olds, and 53 - 54 Chevy and Pontiac. Back window looks much like that of the early 50s full-size French cars.

My grandad had the model before this one. It was in a garage. With a cover on it too. We children were not allowed to stand too close. We could spit on it. He really cared about it.

Schöner Umbau . Ich dachte in Östi ist das mit den Oldtimern noch strenger als bei uns in Deutschland ? Bei uns in Deutschland ist das jetzt nicht mehr möglich, bevor man das H-kennz. bekommt muss der eigentliche Umbau wieder 10Jahre alt sein....EGAL ob das Fahrzeug 30---40 oder 50 Jahre alt ist.

Opel was a great German car maker in the 20s and 30s but since GM bought them, Opel cars did not sell well, eventually GM sold Opel to Peugeot/PSA group, new Opels are now rebadged Peugeots sooo sad 😭😭😭
