Heeeeeello everyone!
It has been a while since the last upload so now that I have a cold I get to fix that instead of being in the workshop. In this episode we will take a look at how we fitted the axles first to check the position, then mount the engine and transmission and fit everything from underneath the car. We also make an effort to make the seats, the lights and chrome bumpers look as best as possible and a bunch of other stuff! Hope you enjoy this one :)
If you have any questions or comments - please leave those bellow! Hope to see you in the next video - take care!

Considering the limitations that you are facing, you've done a fine job with the car. The finish work is always the time killer.

Thanks Rene! I think it should look pretty good when finished and certain parts that are easily changable can always be changed for better when available.. But I think these chrome bumpers will look better than black ones would. 🙂

Looking great, hitting a few frustrating niggles, but after three years getting closer to being able to drive the Manta!

Thank you. Being in Greece MANY moons ago, I remember OPELs and they were quite nice. The price was right and overall reliable cars. So watching you bringing one to life from the dead, feels good to me. Take care of yourself and I can't wait to see you in it and driving it. 😀

You can also put some silicon lube on the hood dampers when fitting them. I used some lube made for assembling plastic pipes and that worked ok. Also. Your radiator is for an automatic. So you need the lower hose for a automatic CIH.
@l3v4rt

Yeah, a small amount of silicone spray also work but must be careful not to use same gloves or contaminate somehow if you're painting close to it as silicone is a nightmare to have on surface. Regarding radiator hose - you are correct, I have swapped it out for automatic hose as I learned later the automatic had a side outlet. But good that you point it out, I am sure other will find this info useful! Have a good evening man, thanks for following the project :)

The last finish is the hardest , keep up the good work . For the lower coolant hose , you could use the one from Kadett c gte i Think your radiator is from this model. 😀👍

Thanks Allan! It absolutely is, but slowly it is coming towards finish. 🙂 The radiator hose problem wad solved with the one for automatic transmission, that on has the correct angle. 🙂

Dude! So much great work done in this video. I know the setbacks are frustrating, but you are making great progress. I am very curious to know more about your dual carb setup, and how you're modifying the fuel and ignition systems to make it all happy. I am strongly considering something similar on mine (dual Weber DCOE 40/45's). Maybe you're aware, but there are new stainless steel bumpers available for these cars. Not sure how well they fit, but could be a good option if you don't have any luck cleaning up the originals. With that fresh paint, it will be nice to have shiny trim on your car. The Recaro seats look nice and supportive! I still have factory (reupholstered) seats in mine, and they are nice, but have no side bolsters, so that becomes a limitation on twisty roads. Will you have shoulder seat belts? There isn't really a good place to mount them in the early Manta, before there was a proper B-pillar. The old shoulder belt mount on the rear trim panel is what I used, but the belt is below the level of my shoulder, so it always wants to slip off. Maybe before you install the headliner, you could find a way to mount something to the roof structure? Something to think about. It's really nice that you had all the drivetrain and suspension ready to install. You made it look easy! I also like how you painted the area behind the grille black - I did the same thing. It's a great way to make the grille stand out and look cleaner. Great work as always, I look forward to the next one!

Hey Andrew - awesome to read your comment, thanks for dropping in! Regarding dual carb setup I will be able to tell you more once we start it up and tune it so it runs okay. No idea how to do that (just yet). The fuel supply is now an electric fuel pump but again more on that once it will actually work. I am interested regarding stainless steel bumpers - I heard of them but wasn't able to find them . If you are able, please send a link on FB or Instagram. But I agree - nice trip would really make it pop out :) The seat belt problem I am still sorting out tbh- all the problems you have expressed I fully agree and I am in search of something. I was considering making a mounting on roof but to be honest I don't wind this idea too good as it makes the mounting too high and the roof itself isn't all that strong and in case of rollover you would greatly change the functioning of the seat belt. I was thinking of rebuilding a custom B pillar but dropped that as well. I am going on a scrap yard to find alternatives and ideas (hopefully soon) as I would like to have the female port on seats as these Recaros have. The seats are super comfy, I had them also in my BMW e21 but in fabric and they are from Opel Omega. A bit wider and a pain to fit into Manta but it works, also the mounting is similar to factory but beefed up. The suspension wasn't easy to fit but it worked. Having reinforcement plates on lower control arms without cutouts for internal spring compressor makes it a bit tricky to get springs in and out but we managed. Behind the grill was necessary to paint. I did not paint behind the rear shelf as we made it a bit different than original and the red isn't showing, we will se if it will pop out around dashboard but that can easily be fixed with 1K paint as it isn't exposed to the elements. :) Thank for following the build man, hope you are well and I am looking forward to your content as well! :)

@@why_wait well the nice ones are not cheap in Europe either. Also.- I am glad I managed to get one that was actually sold in '71 into my hometown, this is super rare coincidence as there was not a lot of them sold here. :)
