DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS VIDEO! Talk about scare mongering! 99% of this applies to 99% of all cars. I worked for vauxhall for 38 years up to 2022 and i have got a 2011 model (which i have had significant problems with). There are some regular faults on the Meriva B (2010-2017 model) however, i would stress that the early ones had the most faults. After production year 2013 onwards we hardly ever had any in apart from servicing. So, common faults.... tailgate micro switch (common on most makes of cars) approx parts price £50 and easy to replace (done mine). Rear door locks activating on their own, bringing on the dash light) tip, turn the child locks on both and sometimes clears this (may still occurre from time to time). Coolant reservoir leak (easily replaced but poor location design by vauxhall/Opel (highly advise you stick a plastic sheet below it and above the ABS unit below. The tank leaks and corrodes the ABS cotrol unit (expensive approximately £1500 at the dealership, this will need reprogramming). If you lose your power steering and it brings on lots of fault light and cause faults all over the car (locks, electric hanbrake, steering, ect) You may think body control module! Check the ABS unit to see if there is signs of a pink residue over the control unit....hence the plastic sheet to prevent this. I know it sounds daft, but the leak into the abs unit, caused all the other problems. Massive fix. Gonna buy one, feel safe with 2014-2017 models. Hope this was more helpful and realistic.

Thanks for the info Sir, appreciate it. I’ve heard the basic naturally aspirated models are generally more reliable, but sadly lack the power….it’s trade off. Regarding the coolant, does the leak come from a hose clip? A crack on the plastic tank? Or a leak from the cap?

Mine is 6 years old and 100k km with Zero problems. Amazing car for a family.

Ours is similar, 2016 right hand drive and 40k miles. Had a coil pack a few years ago but otherwise zero hassle. I see a lot of 2010 Meriva's running around town so I take confidence it will outlast the Russians in Ukraine :)

From 2013 onwards, they were very much more reliable. I worked in a vauxhall dealership. Please read my comment.

Mine is a 2014 with 72000km and runs perfectly fine! Only issue I had was some water leaks which was resolved easily by replacing the coolant tank . (£17 on autodoc including the cap;) ) You must make sure to replace the coolant tank if you experience leaks from there because the water drops on the abs sensor and it could cay abs failure!

Great2 vid but too late, already got one last week... so should i buy dexos 2 oil or dexos 1 gen2 oil? My car is Meriva b 1,4 turbo

dexos 2 in europe. dexos 1 gen 3 is intended for direct injected engines

@@jacopo952 but i heard something like dexos 2 is for diesel engines? Mine 1,4 is benzine
@jacopo95211 ай бұрын
@@us3804 Dexos 2 is intended for diesel engines in the States mostly (bar the Corvette). In Europe Dexos 1 Gen 3 is intended for direct injection (DI) petrol engines . Yours is not. I reckon both oils will be fine provided frequent oil changes are performed. Dexos 1 addresses shortcomings of DI such as low speed pre-ignition (LSPI). I always used Dexos 2 on the Meriva B 1.4 turbo.

Don't buy one! Mine has been the most problematic, unreliable car I have ever known! It's a turd on wheels that's cost me nearly £6,000 in repairs in just 3 years and 16,000 miles of ownership, thanks to CONSTANT problems. Do yourself a huge favour and choose something else.

Power steering pump failure is a very common problem believe me, I have scoured the internet and vauxhall forums for weeks!, you are talking £1800+, I found out the hard way. BTW don't try putting in a second hand pump, the car will not accept it & give you warning lights, that can not be fixed, so mot failure.

@@bucketlisttrance9095same, did it turn out to be the ABS unit. And if so, had your coolant leaked into it?
