Opel/Vauxhall Astra - Lane Keep Assist real-life test :: [1001cars]

Opel Eye’s intelligent assistance systems enhance active safety also enabled by the third generation Opel Eye front camera, Lane Departure Warning also with Lane Keep Assist. It recognizes road markings and gently turns the steering wheel in addition to the well-known alerts if the driver should unintentionally veer out of lane. The system works at speeds ranging from 60 to 180 km/h but does not continuously steer the vehicle. If the steering torque does not prevent departure (e.g. on curves), the amber Lane Keep Assist icon flashes and provides three warning tone as the lane marker is crossed to provide a Lane Departure Warning alert.
The steering wheel nudges and alerts are disabled if the driver is detected to be actively steering, braking, accelerating or if a turn signal is activated.
As you may have seen, the system works quite good as a safety feature. Astra definitely stayed on the lane.
If you want to use the Lane Keep Assist as a comfort system - driving without keeping the steering wheel - it does not work well enough.

This system is pretty poor compared to some rivals. Hyundai's for instance keeps you centred in the middle of your lane, not bouncing between the lines like this does.

I also have opel astra k 2021 but my lane assist button it is not enabled. Tried to push it also for 10sec as opel said but nothing happens. The windscreen is clean and with clear weather still nothing. I also do not have any error on my screen.

In my experience it works very well up to 100 km/h for partly autonomous driving. Above it's sometimes critical. Btw the 2016 model has no warning signal at all, so you can drive like this as long as you like.

Well my 2016 Astra only does 2-3 corrections before beginning to nag me to take control of the steering wheel and if i dont, it will be more and more loud in it's warnings and in the end it just shuts off completely.

This is very poor at mainting the vehicle’s position in the road. My Ford Focus comfortably controls my car in the center on the road, and i will also adjust its speed to keep its distance from vehicles in front as it has adaptive cruise control.

This is not real video on the real speed..the video footage has speed when they edited. It looks like the car it is raining with over 190 km but has only 120 km. Please put real speed of the car and let people to understand this fact.

Since 01:05 the video footage is speeded up and it is easy to recognize when I did it.
