Opel (Vauxhall) Insignia review | Is the GSi version as good as an A6 or 5 series?

Am I the only one who thinks this is one of the best looking cars in the world right now? It's just gorgeous, not like Audi's or BMW's who are pretty much the same last couple years with just sharper lines than previous model, this car just looks classy

One of the best looking Saloon/Sedan on sale right now. Huge spec. Particularly when sold as a Buick. I've seen remote start on Buick versions.

I much prefer high high spec Opel like this or Peugeot 508 GT over a bog standard BMW or Audi. I am pretty sure if you will bring Audi to same spec, it will be eye watering price tag. The biggest issue with this car, it will lose value so fast, you won't even know what hit it. Really nice second hand buy, unfortunately there won't be any of them on the road as no one will buy it new.

Look, I'm a sucker for Opel. Of course i had to buy one. But i got the 2.0l diesel OPC Line with basicly everything loaded into it. I love this car

Same kit of this insignia at 50k equals to at least 80k for an A6 or 5 series or 70k for an A5 SB (in Italy)

Agreed! Some will rather the badge over the extras though but it’s fully loaded alright.

The problem is that if you spec an Audi or BMW to the same level of equipment that this has, the prices won't even look in the same ball-park ! Yes you could get an A6 for similar money but the chances are it would be the base model without the bells and whistles that the GSI has as standard.

Audi or Beemer would be bone-stock with cloth seats small rims and figuratively said steel rims - loaded with the same tech like this Insignia the price rise with about 1/3. And still no torque vectoring like this one. It is hard to beat car to money rate of Opel

An underrated car IMHO. That 2.0 biturbo diesel is lovely as is the 8sp gearbox. The only issue for me is the size, it's huge at almost 5m long, but that does mean it's got masses or rear legroom and the boot is enormous. I would have it as a normal spec though with smaller wheels, it was available like that on the continent.

Might be worth a punt as a company car but that’s about it. If Opel could get this a good few grand under a basic 5 series and back into the forties they might shift a few. Not going to happen with our VRT rates though!

Roughly 500 a month is quite respectable - we’ll put it this way. The only medium/large car that’s outselling it is the Camry, and at least twice as popular as competitors such as the Mazda 6 and VW Passat, and Ford’s rival the Mondeo is struggling to make 30 sales a month

Price new is very high, but as an Opel driver and an insignia driver at that I can assure you it won't hold its value, so let some other poor soul buy it new and pick it up at 3 years old (like I plan to do) for about 25k

Sold as Buick Regal Sportback GS in US. GM killed the car. I am buying one in red , 7000 off sticker price. Gm never advertised this car. Europe get 20 inch wheels,360 camera, and paddle shifter!!! I want this one or Holden version.

I'm a big Skoda person, next car (at some point) is definitely going to be an Octavia vRS TDI or Superb Sportline.. But the sheer amount of standard equipment on this would tempt me to get a Vauxhall Insignia GSi, genuinely amazed with the kit..

I think that it's unfair to compare the insignia to higher priced BMW,Audis,And comparable Mercedes Benz models. The Opel insignia by European standards is considered a premium executive Car but it offers value for the money and it's not really meant to compete with those ultra-luxury models . It give you Preformance, luxuryorientated appointments but this car is a "Lesser priced alternative" to those premium brands.

Audi, bmw expensive spare parts and repairs. You wouldn't expect their high depreciation of value. And it is that massive that it is quite dissapointing to say the least. When you decide to sell them after five years you already lose at least 60% when you invest in Audi or BMW. So Opel, well it's opel. They have cheap spare parts and also an option of repaired second hand spare parts when you need to get a reasonable price servicing which i find absolutely great, and important and quite relevant feature. Knowing that no other car manufacturers does that for you.
