I have a question. I have a new open floor plan that combines a large kitchen, family room space and an assumed dining space all in one room with wood floor. In the kitchen I have a large and long Island that I'll have a long but appropriate rectangular lighting fixture. A few yards away I have space for a long dinning table that would run parallel to the island. Then a dee yards away from that I have the large family room space where I would like to have a ceiling fan above it with a carpet and some furniture etc. Here is the question, is it not good to have a di ing room light fixture on the ceiling over the the long dining table since I already have the light fixture over the island and rhen rhe fan kf course across the room? Am I breaking any rules there? Or is it perfectly fine?

Loved how quickly you made the points. I am building a home now and want to anticipate my lighting needs in an open floor plan. The living room is 20 feet long and is 16 feet from the fireplace. I think I will need lamos situated behind the sofa or the accent chairs. How do I determine where Floor outlets are situated in the living room space?
