In this weeks episode of Open Gym, the Raptors front office have a busy trade deadline as they add more new faces amid a season of change. The day after the deadline, Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji arrive in Toronto as they are welcomed with open arms to a new yet familiar home.

Masai brought Kelly and RJ home. As a Canadian Raptor fan it's honestly incredible. RJ playing way above his trade value. Kelly will be the best vet on the team for a long time. The foundation that was built this year is strong. I am predicting Scottie as most improved this year and All-NBA next year. LETS GO RAPS

The Raps don't want a tanking team for their 30th anniversary celebration season in 2024-25. They (MLSE) want a competitive team. I think Masai-Bobby will try to make a trade or two during the playoffs, on draft night or over the summer in order to get some more "win now" talent on the roster. Which makes the Pascal Siakam trade even more befuddling given the returns on it thus far: Brown, Olynyk, Nwora, Agbaji, 2 FRP (Ind '24/Ind '26). Personally, I would like to see Andrew Wiggins on the roster giving a starting 5: Poeltl, Barnes, Wiggins, Barrett, Quickley.

Raps should have signed Kelly Olynyk in 2021 when they had Pascal playing out of position at center... and he had a few more miles left on his career. Obtaining and extending him now seems like nothing more than a PR move (Team Canada) for a player who will turn 33 before the season is over. He doesn't fit the SB timeline as well. Raps still need a back up pg (Cory Joseph?, Killian Hayes?) and recently signed two wings (Winslow, Gueye) who can't shoot- didn't we just go through an era of having multiple non-shooting wings on the roster? Ochai Agbaji physically looks good but so far his shooting (5-18 fg / 1-9 3fg) hasn't come around. At Utah he was shooting 41% fg / 31% 3fg. Pascal for Brown, Olynyk, Agbaji, Nwora, 2 Ind FRP ('24/'26)...
