Using their strength, courage and wits, plus Thundarr’s magical Sunsword, they journey from village to village, liberating slaves and battling all kinds of beasts, mutants, wizards, thieves and robots. The future of Earth may be shrouded in darkness, but Thundarr the Barbarian bursts into action as a shining symbol of hope for humanity.
Special Feature: "Lords of Light: The Story of Thundarr the Barbarian" featurette.
Directed By Rudy Larriva, John Kimball

I just turned 54 and still remember those Saturday morning cartoons growing up in S FL. To this very day and especially after watching this, I still want a Sun Sword, dammit and a date with Princess Ariel wouldn't be frowned upon either. Oh hell, Ookla could come by the house too.

Love this show. I remember the show being interrupted for Charles and Diane’s wedding one Saturday. I was so upset. I remember thinking, “who cares about this dumb wedding!” Update and clarification… Weddings are beautiful things. But I was a kid looking for adventure at that time in my life. That haven’t changed. These shows took me to other “worlds” that fired my imagination. That haven’t changed either.

It was only ahead of its time in the melding of high fantasy and low fantasy - like a mixture of Conan the Barbarian stories with a crazy post-apocalyptic future Earth setting. My favorite cartoon from my youth. What was not to love? Attractive Sorceress, a light sabre ( er sunsword,) a wookie ( er Mok,) and a cool post apocalyptic setting. Great villains from super powered wizards to werewolves. I smile whenever I think of it. It was short lived, too adult? I would kickstart a reboot.

Yeah, Gemini is a creation of Jack Kirby... who is the same guy who created Darkseid. Gemini also acts a lot like Darkseid.

The soundtrack and music cues were really well done. There are some parts of the arrangement that are a bit dated with the palm mute guitars etc. But the music really sells the budget animation on a Saturday morning with a big bowl of cereal about 43 years ago.

I never heard of this, but the premise is cool and this clip was not half as cheesy as the more popular cartoons I do recall. I might have to dig this series up.

Darkseid's true form exists outside of the known Multiverse. What you see is one of his avatars for using his true form in any universe would destroy it.
