open locked door without key - replace euro cylinder lock

How to replace a euro cylinder lock when the door is in the closed / locked position. When the security screen door is closed / locked and you have lost your keys or maybe your lock itself is faulty you will need to remove the euro cylinder lock in order to open the door and replace the lock. This is a very common problem with security screen doors in which people feel helpless and are therefore required to spend a lot of money for the services of a locksmith. When the door is in the closed / locked position access to the locking screw which holds the euro cylinder in place is not accessible and therefore the easiest way is to snap the lock as i show you in the video. This video helped me replace the lock in a used door that I purchased. In Australia, thin doors typically use the 46mm euro lock while thicker doors use the longer 63mm lock. The job of breaking the lock is easier if you use 2 pairs of multigrip pliers with an assistant on the other side of the door bending the lock at the same time and in the same direction. The screw hole being the weak point in the lock is where you apply force. Multigrips with wide jaws (10mm) are best suited to this task.

Always use anti snap cylinders,it may make life difficult if you loose your keys but it also makes life difficult for the burglar who uses the same technique

@@lystic9392 there is one with harden bars. I still get through them though is harder. Anti snap have sacrificial snap point a point that you can no longer grip the lock.

Fantastic video and helped greatly. I would just like to add that I just could not get the little tag to turn round to open. So i used recip saw hacksaw to cut out the screw, which holds the eurolock in, which then fell out leaving the slot clear to just slide a new lock in, get it in position then open. This may help someone struggling like me! But the video was just fab thanks.
