Technically speaking, releasing an animal like Boog wouldn't be a great idea anyway - he's been raised by a human (Beth) since he was a cub, and is 100% accustomed to human interactions and their connections to food sources. The best they could do with him is dump him in a zoo... and seeing that he's a grizzly bear, I reckon a few zoos would love to have him. I get it, it's a kid's movie - all I'm saying is what I'm saying, for the sake of leaving a comment.

I said “Mother, Can we get a Bear” repeating “Can we Get a Bear” 3x. she said “I don’t wanna Bear in Here” I said “What about as a Cub” my mother looked at me like, what. Because animals that have been raised in captivity for most of their entire lives really don’t have the skills they need to survive in the wild because they’ve become too dependent on people for, food, toys, water, and shelter Much to their own detriment so in reality Boog would’ve been sent to a wildlife sanctuary or park
