Very ingenious. I don't have a radial arm saw, but you gave several things to think about. Way to go.

Neat jig Al but I don't have enough patience for segmenting. Doesn't stop me from appreciating the incredible pieces that I see being created though. Thanks for sharing ........ Geof Harris (UK)

Rebel Turner, haven't bought it yet, it's $100 for that size, but I have a plate. Oh, I have a Delta Radial Arm Saw too, weird, lol

thanks Al you gave me a reason not to get rid of the old radial arm saw i must dust it off and see if it still runs

+Tom Palmer Thanks Tom . You know I have no room for my RAS and refuse to part with it. I use to use one exclusively for many years and without a doubt you can do many things on one that is just about impossible on a table saw. I love my RAS

Hi Al! Thank you very much for sharing this my friend! Very nice jig! If I ever get into segmented turning, and believe me, I am seriously considering, I will do one for myself :) Cheers! Daniel

+Daniel Vilarino Thank you my friend. Well I must say this ring is not something for everyone and there are many ways to get an open segment on a piece of wood I just wanted to make this because I knew it was a challenge. I think you would do a great job because I know you have much more needed skill set than I have and that is patience. I range around the ZERO mark range LOL.Take care and till next time.

That's the best idea I've ever seen. I baught myself some months ago a wedgie plate and wedgie and it cost me a lot of money (Rand/ Dollar thing). So I figured out the gap angle and drew it out on cad both the plates and wedgies. Got my wedgies last week lazer cut and now after this video I can try and make my own wedgie plates. Thanks AL...Oelie from South Africa..

Al, I must be a little dense. I understand how you would glue a solid ring on top, but how would you glue another open ring to those segments?
@AlFurtado8 жыл бұрын
+Gary McCoy Assuming you would have a usable solid base. you would bring the jig from the tailstock to the base set on a waste block. You would glue you fist open seg ring to it than you would keep building it up alternating your patters. Hard to explain but there are some tutorials on this type of turning. here is an options kzbin.info/www/bejne/goSZhaF8jLuLjM0
