This whole song is so tight even after all these years. Says a lot about them as musicians....great!🎵🎵

I could join this band for the rest of my life. 2 drum kits. 3 guitars. A brass section to die for. What could anybody else want?
@dme10162 жыл бұрын
We covered their songs in theb70's....10 years younger. Just one druummer...me, 3 horns, & 1 guitar. And we sang Much respect. Charisma was a 5-piece singing band in the 70's, from Newark, NJ, who played our own instruments - in which I wrote, sang lead, & played drums (I'm standing 2nd from the left). The attached song is "Don't Act Surprised", which has over 4 million KZbin views, and is on all streaming sites (Amazon, Apple, Spotify, etc). Copyright 1977, David Dawkins kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2SviHd4eseCarM Peace, & please share 😎😎

Since about 1967, they been doin' what they do!!! Quincy Jones went on and on about the horn arrangement for this tune. That in itself is one of the greatest compliments any real musician could get!!!!! Lon live Koll and the motherf---ing Gang!!!!

Kool and the Gang kicked Ass, I still rock this joint in my car (Full Blast) till my windows shake. I was 13 when this came out and I still have the Long Version of Open Sesame. Long Live our Greats, Kool and the Gang, and Earth Wind nd Fire.

This song is the BEST!!! I remember feeling so proud of myself at the tender age of 3, when I figured out how to flip the switch on the stereo to "phono" and press the lever on my dad's United Audio Record Player to drop that needle! Those were some good times, for sure!

I remember when I was small kid, my father would blast this song in our house equiped with 3 home made loud speakers. 2 in the living room and 1 in the office/music room , these were bigger than me and I mean loud , you could hear it outside the house LOL

Came out in the disco era but is one of the hardest hitting horn driven funk songs of all time. Ewf is my favorite band, but I imagined Kool called Maurice and said, Hey Mo, I got a new cut. Tell your Phoenix Horns on this one, hold my beer. "

Thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of Ronald Bell (sax); the man behind many of their tunes, old and new. As a sax player, I appreciate his raw tone, his signature altissimo "A," and the Coltrane influence in his solos. Check out his solo on this clip: simple and soulful. The horns are tight!

These kats are really very excellent Jazz musicians. A lot people don't seem to realize that. They Did that pop BS back in the 80's to appease a certain pop market, to make that Doe. But they are very talented musicians in Jazz and some good O" funk. great band. Basskat Detroit MI.

Because they had to survive the '80 and they did it well ! Most funk bands were fading during those years while K&TG was running through the '90. other bands like Earth Wind& Fire didn't do well in the '80 (exept live shows). in the early '90 the funk came alive again and lots of bands revived themselfs since.
