Open Trailer Shopping: Maxxd N6X vs TopHat 20' Car Hauler

After selling my 44' gooseneck trailer I needed an open trailer to haul the Escalade with. It had to be 20' long and have 5,200lb rated axles to handle the weight. I was between the Maxxd and the Tophat brand models with a decent price difference. Both using cambered Dexter axles however having totally different construction and finishes. Come along for the purchasing process!

Actually really good info here! I was going to be looking at getting a trailer to haul my longboi and i was looking at the lower load ones excellent to hear i shouldnt play with fire and that the maxxd is where its at! That coating is amazing.

I’m a fan. Some rivets on the diamond plate have popped off and the wiring is a little lazy but other than that it’s a great trailer. Mine was probably built on Friday lol

He right bout them 7k trailer. Had a big tex 70ch 20ft. The guy I got it from was like yea it tow cars great. (😑) Went to load a 97 Acura tl on to it. My wheels was bowed out and can barely get the trailer go over 45mph without is severely swinging. Never again 10k and up for me. My load trail title deck 14k is a dream. But she's a big girl 4k just empty weight.

MaxxD trailer is bad for loading cars. The ramps are too short so you will scrape. You'll need an extra 4' of wood plus the ramps which is worthless to me

I have that problem. It is good for loading trucks but for cars it is a pain in the butt. I guess thats what you get with a trailer that has the extra weight capacity. It is built to carry big things. Even at that the first time I put my crew cab duramax on it the ramp door bent when I drove up there. Trailer was a week old.
