Dear Ian, dear David, your video was the first step forward in a new life. I was in the Army the last 22 years and overcame the biggest crisis of my life. Your video inspired me to "go swim", in february, here in Germany in the river of my city and this was THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO SURVIVE. To go back to my old sport, to go and feel my body and soul, the water, nature, ... later on I changed to Stand up Paddling also, but this initial step, was the start of my new life. Thank you very much my friend. Take care of you and if I can support you, somehow here in Germany, let me know. Christian

I tried swimming with groups but truthfully appreciate the solitude of my ocean swim (apart from my fishy friends) ,no competing all at my own pace. I usually end up 200 metres away from the shore away from other swimmers. Nearing 54 YO and feeling the best about my body and fitness ever.

Exactly. I prefer swimming alone. Going at my own pace... not having to await on anybody. :)

Dear Ian, am a long time swimmer, and a few weeks ago some friends encouraged me to go open water in a lake. I was thrilled, but first time had a sort of panic surge. I watched many videos - most very focused on technicalities - after I watched your video it gave me that last bit of confidence and that was a game changer, finally did the cross. Thank you!

Lovely film. And passion. I'm a sea dock swimmer mostly (with the odd swim in the sea. But absolutely love cold water and being outside of the contraints of a pool.

I feel the same. I’m a senior in Canada n I do 3 km in the pool but I enjoy open water swimming more. I do only 1.5 k but it feels so relaxing and meditative. I swim in the ocean in a secluded bay, though I stop mid October as it gets too cold. Thanks for the video!

Just discovered this video....as you know: EXCEPTIONAL. The best I’ve ever seen on open water swim. Headed out in a few for today’s swim, and will think of this while swimming.

Swim in the sea is different every season is different temperature Every day the sea is different. I swim in the same place for 60 years☺. Here the temperature of the water is from 17° - 31° in the summer. We have lake 70 Km from home and it is too far for me to go there. Sure this lake looks great! █

My first OWS went well except for a brief moment of panic. The wind was moving across the top of the water from left to right, and I thought for a second I was stuck in a current. It turned out it was just an optical illusion I relaxed, and the rest of the swim was very pleasant. BTW I was swimming breast stroke stroke not free style.

Sydney. That is totally different. With cold water ocean swimming its a lot more mental endurance, even with a wetsuit.
@framestomind75482 жыл бұрын
why do you use a full length suit instead knee length long legs? Would it matter if ones suit is shorter much or not? I got one with short legs and long arms...is it going to be good for this type of swimming as well?
