What I think happened in this song visually: "What did you think might happen?" She asked, her voice hoarse and rumbling in her throat. She took a step toward Abuela's still, stiff looming frame. "What did you think I might say?" She shook her head, her curls bouncing as she took another prowling step toward her prey. "Did you expect me to.." She growled, her eyes scanning her family, under a scrutinizing gaze. "...Just forgive you?" She folded her arms across her chest, which heaved in heavy breaths. Her shoes clacked on the tiled floor as she began to pace, her steps falling in time with the cracks that crept along her footfall. "Well I’d say sorry, but I don’t feel like I should be.." "For years I’ve all kept your little secrets" She continued her pace, raising a hand to silence her Abuela, who opened her mouth to bark a retort. "And for years I’ve kept all of mine" She continued, throwing her arms out in annoyence, before pushing her glasses up her slim nose. "But secrets are no fun If you don’t share with everyone." She turned on her heel, her steel gaze returning to the family. "And tonight I’d got a couple things to get off of my chest" She growled, not noticing another pair of eyes watching her. Through the walls.. Bruno dashed through the passageway of the walls, shivering as he passed a few cracks. He gave a shakey breath, listening to the pure anger escape his daughter's voice. "Where were you when I needed you to be on my side?" He glanced through a crack, eyeing his lovely Mira yell at her family, cracks following in her wake, circling around the floors. "I will never be strong enough but at least I don’t patronize!" He let out a few gasps of breath, skidding around a corner, dodging a low hanging beam. "Can’t make the flowers grow but even so I showed you all respect!" He leapt over a gaping hole, swinging across another with the assistance of a steel metal pole that hung out of the crumbling wall. "No more lies!" He landed on the creeking wooden planks of flooring, balencing on the balls of his feet before continuing his sprint.. "Open your eyes!" Mirabel hung her head, her shoulders shaking. "I have believed for my whole life that the problems with this family were me." Her voice was low as she breathed heavily, her arms shaking at her sides. "Don’t you see what we all are?" She asked aloud in a light bark. "A collection of stars" She answered for the family, flicking her eyes up to Abuela, her brows furrowed in distaste. "Just waiting for their turn to burn away..." She snapped her head up, slapping off Julieta's hand, that rested on her shoulder. "Don’t touch me!" "Do you really think this is the life he sought?" She waved her hands toward the walls in which her father hid. "Five years was all we ever got." "Instead of dancing through the halls" She twirled around, clasping her hands together mockingly. "he became a ghost inside these walls" She growled, slamming her foot downward, taking a step toward the family, the candle shaking, its flame flickering. "You thought he was the monster except you forgot about me!" Bruno, slammed open the painting, dashing out into the second floor hallway. His eyes landed on his daughter, his eyes widening. "Where were you when I needed you to be on my side?" Mirabel was shaking, tear brimming in her eyes.. "I will never be strong enough but at least I don’t patronize!" He dashed down the stairs, stumbling toward his daughter from behind. "Can’t make the flowers grow but even so I showed you all respect!" She raised her voice, stomping toward the others, waving her hands wildly. "No more lies!" In a quick bound, he wrapped his arms around her frame, holding her back. "Open your eyes!" "And instead of telling me of my mother!" She fought with her binds of her fathers arms, not registuring it was him. "You decided to hand me over to another!" She gestured with her head to Julieta, her lips drawn tight. "And I mean with disrespect Your fear and your neglect!" "Do you think he’d be proud of who you are now?!" She shouted, her voice ending in a menacing growl. Her shoulders shook in exaustion as she slumped forward in Bruno's grasp. Bruno, held on tight, bending his knees to keep his balence, nearly stumbling forward as well. "You say we can’t talk about Bruno no no.." Her voice was now hoarse and tiresome, spoked lower than usual. "Is love something I’ll never get to know? No no no.." Bruno let out a breathless gasp at his daughter's words. Is this what she had been dealing with without him around..? "Where were you when I needed you?" Her voice got stronger, her frame shaking powerfully in his grip, her knees suddenly buckling. "Where were you when I needed you?" She crumpled up, tears springing in her eyes. "No more lies." She shouted, slamming her fists on the ground. "No more lies..!" "No more lies!" Bruno bent over, holding onto his crying daughter, his breath catching in his throat. "Open your eyes!" "Open your eyes!" The last thing Bruno restered was his daughter's cries and screams, deep rumbling cracks, the falling of brick and concrete, and the cold wind on his back, and his own tears falling.

Jesus, the possibilities of how all of this would look if it was in the movie are blowing me away. The best and main idea to me would be as Mirabel sings, the Casita starts to crumble worse and worse, only for Casita to not care. While keeping the Madrigals out of harm's way, it would use the last of its power to constantly give Mirabel a stage above her family, allowing for her to fully explain without a shadow of a doubt why the Miracle was dying and finally get them to hear her.

In each "open your eyes" the candle's fire flickers and grows, melting down the more the fire grows, until it blows off. In the part where she asks "do you think he'd be proud of who you became?" Pedro's portrait falls behind her and his eyes are burned because of the fire, Abuela's face is full of tears. Bruno looks fearful and concerned and keeps trying to climb to where Mirabel stands alone, Julieta and Agustín trying their best to help him - they all love her, after all. When the fire goes out the house crumbles completely, leaving only Mirabel standing next to the spot the candle had been just seconds ago, the whole spot completely untouched. Mirabel then crumbles and wails. (Allegory: the spot in wich she stands remains the same, but Mirabel crumbles just like the rest of Casita. Allegory 2: she still gave more important to the candle than to herself, seeing as she crumbles, but the Candle's spot doesn't).

I have an idea for what could happen next in the next part of this AU! After Casita crumbles, Mirabel, sick of her family, breaks free of Bruno’s arms and runs away. Bruno, Abuela, Julieta, and Agustín chase after her. But Mirabel, having a head start and being younger, outruns them and they lose her in the forest around the village. Mirabel keeps running until a voice tells her to stop. She turns around, and the ghosts of a man and a woman are standing behind her. The man is her abuelo, Pedro. The woman explains she’s Mirabel’s mother. Mirabel bursts into tears and collapses, and the ghosts try to comfort and reason with her. They start singing a reprise of “She’ll Never Know”. Here’s the lyrics I’ve come up so far: Mirabel’s Mother: Look at you grown You’re so amazing You should know That I love you so~ You never gave in Made it through thick and thin And now you’re at your hardest challenge of all But we’re here to catch you at your fall Pedro or Mirabel’s mother: Mirabel~ Abuela caused you so much pain Don’t let it turn you cold And make your journey be in vain~ Pedro: Mirabel, there’s something I must explain~ (Pedro sings about his life with Alma, fleeing their home, and his death) Pedro: So there you go That’s the real story And now you know…why I had to go~ But you don’t fret it, I…don’t regret it I created this family’s light It led to you, I did something right (Mirabel’s mom and Pedro go back and forth explaining Alma’s and the rest of the family’s actions and comfort her until Mirabel feels better and more forgiving) (I’m not a songwriter, so that’s why I can’t continue it.
