Can remember Kieron at Ipswich and even though we had a decent team at the time in what was Division One (Sunderland) he was a step above for a couple of seasons. Unfortunately he went to Newcastle where again he seemed fantastic for a few years. Always billed as a big time so and so, but having seen him on things over the years he doesn't appear to be, especially now after his illness.

great to see Dyer looking so well, crazy how bad of an appointment souness was, Steve Bruce at that time with that squad would have been pretty successful , and likely won the Uefa cup that year
@kb550917 күн бұрын
Based on what? Not anything else hes done in 25 years of management.
@richnesbitt31217 күн бұрын
@@kb5509 At the time football wasnt as tactical as it was, id say there wasnt much differance tactically between him and souness, however he would have been better with the players If Bruce is in charge for that season over Souness we have Bellamy and Robert for that Uefa Cup match against Lisbon and we would win it, at the time he wasnt a bad manager and was doing ok with birmingham
@kb550917 күн бұрын
@@richnesbitt312 you're thinking like he's getting dropped into Souness' body at the semi final and picking it up from there. They wouldn't have got to a semi final in the first place. He couldn't handle players with any reputation for a start. He brought some in at Birmingham, they got worse. He brought some in at Sunderland, they got worse. Aston Villa? A disaster.
@GoogleMeAgain14 күн бұрын
@@richnesbitt312wasn’t as tactical? Explain
@richnesbitt31214 күн бұрын
@@GoogleMeAgain Bruce's issue at Nufc was that he is of the ilk of go out and play, very little control that is the norm with the likes of Eddie, Klopp, Pep, Benitez these days, players are intricately told there positions and roles and to stick to them, Jose was one of the 1st to bring that heavy tactic style to the PL imo, Back the there was a lot less managerial control, managers told coaches the formation, told them to what to focus on and let them get on with it Souness was of that ilk, as was Bruce, however i think Bruce at that time gets on better with the difficult group of players, using Maxi as an example If Bruce comes in he gets a better performance from Bellamy, robert etc.which if we had those 2 in Lisbon, we win, rest of the results imo would be similar
