My parents were the third owners, John and Florence Smith, who lived in the HHH in the 1960’s. My wife and I just wanted to thank the new owners for not only the great preservation of this wonderful old house, but also for the great memories of my youth spent here. So thank you it really meant a lot.

Oh, wow. This video is so cool. When I was a kid in the mid-1960's we would rent the house from the Smith's for two weeks in the summer. I think we did it three times and once in the winter also. The bottom floor was rented out to someone else then. All the development behind the house didn't exist then, only an in-ground cistern. On the weekends, the steamer would come over in the evening and shine their search light on the house when they docked. All the memories: the pinball arcade, dance parties on Crescent Street, diving for coins thrown from the steamer.

Wow! Streaming the show Open House is a lot of times, where you can find me. Today, this episode made me Google it & share episode w/you. What a fantastic, beautiful place right in our on USA many people travel far away to Italy to see this kind of beauty. They've done a spectacular job restoring it. I love how they found construction behind walls and brought them back to life back, to their period from the very beginning. Check out that fireplace & the rocks they paid local kids to retrieve and include in the construction from back in the day. The hidden staircase and windows tho, why would anybody cover them up?!

Loved the island when I went 25 years ago and absolutely love Queen Anne’s. Thank you for taking the time to show people your beautiful home and explain some of its history. I look for videos like yours to enjoy. I just kept thinking how nice it would be to have a glass of wine and sit and enjoy all the different spaces and levels while looking over the island. Take care.

We were just at Catalina Island a couple days ago... taking in the views from the top, and we noticed this one particular house that had a pool and thought wow that looks amazing and wondered how the house looked like. Honestly the whole town of Avalon is so intriguing to me. So as I’m watching this video... I realized this is the house we saw and was admiring! :)

I wonder if it’s haunted in any way ..I mean 1880? The things those walls have seen! I love the round windows. I love the white walls with the wood. It’s beautiful. So nice that you found amazing things to hang as art in the home that is original.
