I'm happy you guys crack older stuff but if you're buying loose vintage packs, and you didn't see them come out of a box break, they will 100% have been mapped. Which explains why these were horrendous.

@@josa3127 what does mapped mean?
@charlesvane46873 ай бұрын
@@danielthompson2904 Probably translates into searched packs.
@josa31273 ай бұрын
@@danielthompson2904 up until not too long ago, sets could be mapped in boxes. Imagine a grid, say 10x10. Each slot would be a specific card, as that's how they appear on the print sheet. When you fill the grid with every card, you can then know exactly where a rare will appear. That's what mapped means. Folks would crack a random pack in a box and map it. Then they would follow the grid for the next pack until they they knew exactly what rare would appear in what pack. You can find old threads mtgsalvation that talk about this

They were repacks as easily as they opened
@Rel3D3 ай бұрын
@@danielthompson2904 I believe the older boxes you could tell what the booster box contains if you open one or two packs people can map out what the other packs contain based on the card order sheet. I will say I’m not 100% sure if revised is as mapped out this way. Sadly 30 year old stuff if it’s a bad pack we’ll suspect searched and if it’s good it’s legit. Nature of the beast lol.

@@YorkReacts you move the rare up to the top of the pack where you can barely see through the white part of the pack and see if it's a card you want.

the classic move now and then was to buy a box of revised, rip packs until you hit the dual land and then sell the rest of the packs… unless i see the box being opened you can be sssured you are unlikely to pull a dual land…the guy breaking them so excited about garbage cards it’s like the fly in the ointment lol so happy he’s ripping packs he didn’t pay for that he doesn’t realize his demeanor towards garbage packs are upsetting the people that likely paid 200+

For the conspiracy theorists out there, two data points. First data point, the fact that none of the money cards were hit in 16 packs: There are 11, which means in one pack, the odds of not hitting are 91%. In 16 packs, the odds are 91%^16 or ~22%. So completely explained through bad luck. Almost 1/4 of the time when you open 16 packs of revised, you won’t hit one of the top hits. Now for the probability of hitting no rares greater than $10…of which there are 22. That means the probability should be ~82% for one instance and 4% when opening 16 packs. Also throw in the fact there is a 42% chance that no demonic tutors or sol rings would be opened, that results in a 1.6% chance of opening no card better than Nev’s disk in 16 packs. Possible? Yes. Probable? You decide. My money’s on mapped packs.

@Tom_Ace_US3 ай бұрын
@@earthpond8043 when you use a light or device on the pack, the heat and light shrinks the seal even more and it withers, best way is to use an ex ray and have it hit the pack at once instead of using a light and moving through cards quickly as it shrinks/tightens. How many Revised boosters are left do y’all reckon? Much love from Texas!
@jorge571212 ай бұрын
100 percent duplicates the experience of buying booster packs back in the day. People starting off buying revised starters and boosters could occasionally find dark or legends (rarely antiquities and basically never arabian nights) booster packs, but buying revised was almost always like this. Basically to have decent cards you had to buy lots of packs and when WOTC finally caught up to the mad rush for their product they came out with Fallen Empires, Homelands and Ice Age, which, again, barely helped you. So you had to dump tons of money into buying revised or ice age packs, and later 4th edition which was just nerfed revised. The only other way of getting decent cards was buying them from local shops for insane prices for kids. A kid will maybe be able to buy a booster pack or two or maybe a started pack, but buying individual cards? For like real money? It basically meant anyone playing anyone who just poured their parents' or their own spending money into buying a huge amount of packs OR started playing 3, 6 or 9 months earlier just had clearly superior cards and was going to win. It took WOTC a couple years to fix this and they lost a lot of people in that time period, but it seems they finally figured it out and everything turned out ok in the long run.
@Magimax53 ай бұрын
funny that each of this pack costs almost as a worn dual, it's like gambling to have a chance to go on pair or slightly above, revised packs should cost like 30$ for their overall value
