If you have the sl, you should definetely buy these boxes. Just today i got the Tornado (Germany), the USS Missisipi (USA) and the Ram thingy (UK). I startet with 30 mil and ended with 100k. And thats just this event, i received at least 20+ vehicles, some in coupon form, over the years. ITS WORTH IT.

It would also be very easy for gaijin to increase the probability of you getting a vehicle you already own. The mechanism for changing the probability of a certain item dropping is already in the game, so all they need to do is add an exception for certain users. Hell this is a pretty common thing and has been done many times, especially with gambling sites for things like CS and Rust where the devs would give content creators who were paid to advertise the site better odds

While they could probably do those, I don't think Gaijin would put any effort into it. They just seem way too lazy for that. Plus, I don't think they'd specifically mention 1 vehicle to have lower drop rates than the rest if they did (IS-7 in previous boxes, USSR Type 62 in this one). I think they just have a loot box template that they can use to make new loot boxes within seconds.

In game development, we call things like loot boxes that cost loads of earnable credits an economy flush/reset. It is when the developer wants to stabilize the economy of a game by removing in-game currency out of the game completely. Gaijin does this to keep people in need of silver lions so they spend their hard-earned money on premium time & golden eagles/premium tanks. This is nothing new in the gaming industry but for anyone other than end game players these "money pits" of loot boxes simply aren't worth it, and as you have seen are by design.

For example: Games like EVE ONLINE do this by actively engaging MASSIVE-scale wars & battles with HUGE in-game money costs so the player base has to then get back to re-earning the lost materials & currency. If they didn't the game economy would collapse completely after a while and the in-game currency would become worthless because everyone would have loads of it already. Governments of the world do the same thing. Heard of inflation before?

You have to spend close to 10M silver lions to have a chance at a vehicle. It's definitely not worth it because you'll get something you have or won't use. You can get lucky and open a few and get something great but that's like 1% of players if that.

The thing is, what else can you spend SL on? The boosters, wagers and orders are not worth it at all, but the backups in my opinion are fantastic if you want to get a grinder for a new tech tree and grind a new nation using a high tier premium. I use these loot crates to farm backups for that purpose, anything else is just cute in addition. I do also have millions of SL, I would also HIGHLY advise against using these if you are under 5 Million SL.

I've played WoT for many years and switched to WT. It's a shame that WT doesn't have events with real money lootboxes like in WoT. They have a guaranteed gold drop that is worth more that the one crate cost, so you are always on huge profit in gold, premium time and vehicles.
