Very fun video, the realgar on that mini collection that was flaking off and you also touched it with your index finger, that is arsenic ore. Definitely should wash your hands after touching. Orpiment is also in arsenic ore

good to know, thanks. Knowing which minerals contain harmful chemicals is something every rockhound should learn.

Beautiful collection! Your grand parents must have been in the business of collecting, what a set up they left you. What a way to remember their legacy! There is a huge following for miniatures ( thumbnails) the larger samples can be quite exspensive, so these smaller samples can be affordable for the younger generations of rock collecting. But those sapphires and rubies are a nice good size! Thank you for sharing such an amazing collection!

Thank you! I really do appreciate the history that I have here in my hands and am glad to see at least someone out there saw the non-monetary value in saving it!

@@earthartgems I know what you mean, I love minerals and crystals! I recently found a desert rose crystal at the Salvation army for two dollars!!! I was so happy but thought about the person who owned it before and felt so sad, I also wondered why did they give up such a beautiful specimen and my guess was that maybe the owner passed away and whom ever ended up with their stuff just donated it, But they shouldn't worry because the crystal has a good home with me!

So many thing go passed from one generation to the next in that way, and some are treasured, others are lost, and others eventually find a home.

How are they mounted in the foam? I’m looking for ways to store my collection as they’re awkwardly stacked in acrylic dividers at the moment
@earthartgems2 жыл бұрын
It appears to just be glue. I would not recommend this, as many glues melt foam and most of them had fallen off their foam bases.

The yellow big facet is probably a citrine
@earthartgems6 жыл бұрын
Citrine, lemon quartz, both types of quartz... but yes, I think I can safely say it is not a yellow sapphire :(

Those Emerald Creek garnets look like they have rutile in them judging by the outside, I bet they would cast some nice 4 or 6 ray stars. More than likely Star Garnet, not Almandine Garnet.
@earthartgems5 жыл бұрын
Thanks terri, I'll have to take a closer look. Maybe polish one of them and see how it looks. And advice on figuring out how to orientate it to get the star centered?
@matthewg3374 Жыл бұрын
@@earthartgemshose garnets looked almost tound anyway, might as well just cut them into a sphere that way you won’t have to worry about orienting the star

@@angelofdamnation666 I'd be open to selling it. I have some other very large stones if the "largeness" of it is what interested you. I have two of them. One is 67.4 carats and the other is 37.8 carats. The one that you liked is the larger of the two. Both I had tested and they are natural lemon quartz. I cant message you privately here on KZbin, so please send me a message through my website here: earthartgems.com/custom-orders Once I hear from you, I'll email you back with prices for these stones, as well as some other larger pieces I have which are not currently listed for sale if you are interested. Cheers, Austin
