@@BlackFlagHeathen this actually has more to do with the storing conditions. High humidity will cause this quite quickly. canned goods should be stored in a cool dry environment for best storage life. Fyi cans are made out of the same materials they were a hundred years ago, tin.

I remember my grandmother had a box 📦 with canned foods in it including a can of chocolate pie with a date of April 13, 1953 on it. There was a evaporated milk can with a date of October 28, 1952 on it. A 📦 of seasoning manufactured on April 13, 1953, in the basement.

Speaking of sisters, when I was a teenager I would cut off the labels of some of the cans in our house and tape them on different cans. One day, my sister thought she was opening a can of Spaghettios but it was actually green beans LOL!!! She said "Oh no !!! What is this?" 😄🤣😄🤣

Me and my bf are currently cleaning out his great grandpa's house to move into it. And we found so much food from the 80s to the early 2000s. It's insane. The 80s cans held up better than the 2000s tho for sure.

The Del Monte canned zucchini was still available at retail as of a few years ago (though it was never easy to find/widely stocked). I absolutely loved that stuff as a side-dish with chicken. I feel bad that a can of such deliciousness went to waste. 😥

Out of all old food and old cans/packaging I like to see.. my favorite is early 2000s packaging. That was my childhood and early 2000s isn't too different compared to now but I love the look of that time's packaging and how things were kinda different back then compared to now.

watching these videos always reminds me of the time i opened up a wonton soup container (despite being a container of wonton soup, it was repurposed by my family for use as a container for other foodstuffs) that was left to fester in the deep recesses of my fridge, only to discover that inside was a thick, gray, almost granular-looking paste with a layer of some sort of water atop it ,, cant imagine what that used to be, nevertheless why it was in my refridgerator in the first place

Once I've eaten 4 month out of date pie filling but it was still phymeosaturuative, preserved cold & 6.54 out of year steak sauce some of it i opened & you could image how it'd be having beef gunks on a A1 steaky sauce glass bottle, the gunks I just had to scrape off. It didn't loose it's flavor. Was thrown out during the winter.

I do have some empty food cans which are still sealed, even some empty chocolate boxes. These where given to shop owners for display by the companies...back when there were still small shops with store windows around.

When I worked for home health I had patients who got food from food banks and it came in cans like that fruit cocktail. They would get fruit, vegetables and meat. All of it had the USDA not for resale and the food pyramid stuff on the labels.
