In this video I’m having some fun pretending it’s year 1999 and I’m doing an opening and first impressions video on Benchmade 710 . I wish this was a first production copy but this one was made in 2009 or 2010. Let me know if you own one ad how it held up!

My knife knowledge in '99 was limited to Opinel and Victorinox... Could have been worse references 😅

Btw I still think properly heat treated D2 is overwhelming underrated. I have HK Epidemic in D2 that has just been a joy to own and use.
@CuttingBoardRx4 ай бұрын
I buy D2 knives. It is underrated thanks to cheap Chinese made knives using it and breaking when used hard. Heat treat or more specifically tempering is the culprit thanks to the “harder is always better” mentality

I actually just purchased my very first Benchmade 2 days ago on BLADEHQ. It's also going to be my very first auto, it's the Osborne 9400 with the black blade.... I wish I would have went with the silver blade since I have like 4 black blades already.... Anyways, love your content! You're the reason why my very first OTF was the Kershaw Livewire tanto!
@Elmax17.5dps5 ай бұрын
No bruh the contrast of the green of the 9400 on a black blade is the best IMHO

I bought 710 in m390 around 10 years ago. But it fully lost comparison with Military and I sold it without any doubts. And I have near 10 Vostok Amphibia+Komandirskie - yes, good for me :)

Yes I have 1 of the first model made in ats-34.
@CuttingBoardRx5 ай бұрын
Thanks, I wasn’t aware of this! ATS-34 is basically a Japanese version or equivalent of 154CM, very good steel in 1999!
@samturner64555 ай бұрын
@@CuttingBoardRx at the time was a pure form less contamination. Better steel. A lot was done ats 34.

That was my very first Benchmade. I had carried Buck knives since I was 12 years old. I started shopping for a lock blade and settled for the 710. They had just come out in D2. I bought it online and when it came in, I ordered the 705 in ATS 34 to carry as a dress knife. I carried the 710 until I lost it in the lake about 5 years ago. It was a great knife!
@samturner64555 ай бұрын
@@williammcguire1823 they also come in a rare m2hs steel I still have one of those.

@CuttingBoardReviews where is the star of David mentioned in the Old Testament? I do recall a verse in the New Testament that says, Ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon, and in another verse there is a group of people claiming to be something they are not. I believe it is Rev 3;9.

@manwich5364 it’s mentioned in the Talmud as a seal on King Salomon’s ring.

@CuttingBoardReviews why are you guys behind every bad thing in the world? For instance, most of the ngos pushing open borders in the west. Or the tr@n5 agenda, or communism? Do you find it interesting that HIAS wants open borders in the us, but they believe in an ethnostate for themselves? People are starting to notice these things.

The first 710s were ats34 not D2. I have one and a couple d2 models. I'm looking forward to the Magnacut limited edition.

It's pretty damn stainless while considered semi stainless.
@andrewkalbfleisch19525 ай бұрын
I have an edc d2 knife that tarnished a little bit. Granted, it's pretty corrosion resistant, but it's an old tool steel. It's a great choice, but let's call a spade a spade. It's not stainless
