As someone who got a diver's license (not something serious yet), in a diving course we are trained to open our eyes underwater in case of emergencies. Salt water hurts only when it's waves coming at you at huge speed that hit the eye, underwater you can freely be with your eyes open without hurting for a while

No, anyone can. To keep the eyes from drying, it produces salt water to cover the eyes. This is also your tears. So if you opened your eyes it would feel like nothing. I have tried this. American btw 🇺🇸
