Pecanland Mall in Monroe, Louisiana opened in 1985. It was the largest mall between Dallas and Atlanta on I-20

This is the pecanland mall in Monroe, Louisiana, it’s still open and In almost complete business today! Although it’s only used for the food court, zumiez, and footlocker, nowadays, business always is booming around Christmas time. This was recorded on my birthday of 1992

It definatly is not just for those stores. Bath and Body Works, VS, and even the Camo Shoppe is still open.

This was filmed a few months after I was born. Me and my parents made many trips to the mall when I was growing up (we live in south AR). I haven't been to the mall all that much since I graduated HS (2010) and I haven't been there at all in over 5 and a half yrs. I forgot all about Corn Dog 7 and I'm glad they brought Tilt back a few yrs ago. It's a shame the movie theater is now closed. I remember it pre-Cinemark and I kinda sorta always wanted to see a movie there. I was able to catch a movie there 15 yrs ago (Valkyrie). It was kinda run down, but I'm glad I got to do that. I remember back when Waldens Books, KB Toys, Taco Bell, Hibbett Sports, El Chico, Picadilly cafeteria, and the Disney Store were all in the mall. I would always jump into the pile of Disney plush toys every time we went. I also remember the Disney Store turning into Abercrombie Fitch. I never knew there were 2 Payless stores in the mall and Foot Locker use to be close to where Belk is now.

I'm from South Arkansas and we lived in Monroe mall lol.. Good times!!! Makes me sad to think about.

@@hollymurphree9198 It's crazy how much it's changed over time. We weren't the only people from South Arkansas who did our shopping there. A part of me wishes they still had El Chico there. It really had a great Mexican feel to it.

It's funny that most of the mall is made up of Shoe stores today, and back then, there's a shoe store every 2 spaces lmaoo. Past to present, we're basically a shoe store disguised as a mall😭 But also look how lively it was. How sad.

Me and my brother use to go to The Tilt and collect those tickets 🎟 for buying items on the wall behind the clerks desk we saved thousands and bought a ton of items. Knowing most items were way cheaper than what we spent to collect tickets, but it was fun. Place was a blast for a young kid growing up late 80's into the 90's in Monroe. A shell of its former self now. Great video.

@Combat Rat ate there every time my elementary school took a field trip. Cheese dogs were UNREAL. Lawd! And the candy store (forgot the name) with the giant jawbreaker and rock candy. Cards, Coins, and Collectibles where my brother bought the Doomsday Superman comic (Death of Superman) when it came out. Invent that time machine brother!

One of the original candy stores I remember was called Tropik Sun Fruit and Nut Co. It was in that island of stores by the Great American Cookie Co. and Royal Jewelry. They tore down that little row of stores when they put in that big carousel.@@jodiebagwell2639
