Where is the tender? That completely disables the locomotive from moving. It will also cause a boiler explosion because the tender holds the water and no tender = explosion

Differences between American and British Steam Locomotives- -American locos feature a "Cowcatcher"; a sort of plough to prevent obstructions from being dragged under the wheels and derailing the locomotive. -American locos feature the large headlight, normally mounted at the top of the boiler, near the front of the locomotive. -American locos have much of their tubing and mechanical components exposed for easier access to maintenance workers. -American locos are normally painted entirely black, so that frequent cleaning is not required. -American locos are more cubic in their design than British locos, which feature more rounded and curvaceous lines. -American locos are normally not fitted with items such as smoke deflectors, shrouding, or shielding. Just a few differences. Both American and British steamers perform very well, stylistic, regional, and functional choices aside. (I prefer British locos myself, but I like the American Streamlined locos such as the Reading Crusader and the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha.)

Isn't it funny how in the past the farmers fenced their land to keep the livestock off their crops in the past, whereas the ranchers desired free land, no fences. Today the ranchers fence their land to keep their livestock in, whereas the farmers don't fence so they can easily move their tractors about.

Man if I got this as a kid I would be very unhappy but then again I was one of those kids that absolutely loved trains and them looking realistic a possible (i.e no tender and drive rods and the lack of bogies). The first train set (HO) I ever got, I spent ages saving up for, Christmas came around the year after I got some track and a second set. The first time I saved up and bought a loco by its self was one of the happiest moments of my life. Its a shame it's damaged now. ah happy times. :)

Nice review, this set could have been better if it had the international couplers hornby uses and if it had a tender. To be specific the locomotive is loosely based off the Disneyland Railroad locomotive #1 C.K. Holliday. Also the number 95 pays tribute to when the first Toy Story came out in 1995.

American Cabooses, also called crummies, were where the crew ate and slept. The man in charge was the conductor, and he stood up in the top compartment, or cupola, and stood guard for cows and outlaws.

Glad to see new episodes being made! One little criticism I've always had with this set/engine, is that the loco is made to look like it's inside-cylinder, when in fact, it's outside cylinder, and it should have proper con rods on the outsides. Lovely review!

@MachRacer4 - What you would call a "boxcar" we in Australia would call a closed wagon, and a "passenger car" would be a carriage. And our "cabooses" were called guard's vans, as the crewman who rode in the van was called a guard, not a conductor. There are lots of other differences - "engineer", for example (driver).

A caboose is similar to a brake van, but with the long distances there are bunks in the caboose for the crew. The conductor more or less has his office in the caboose as well. There are no passengers in the caboose. On the other hand the combination car, partial passenger coach and parcel wagon carried the mail and packages. Walt Disney and his brother Roy slipped and sold newspapers as a boy in a combination car for the Kansas City Star. In Walt and Roy's eyes, it wasn't a train unless there was a combination car.

From what I’ve heard, they might be bringing out Toy Story four soon. Don’t know when though. Have you seen all three films? I have, they are actually really good. I like the second one where there is a lift, in a toy shop, and the guy who runs the shop I think is taking photos of all of the toys which is cool. I wonder what sort of camera is used for the photos, I also wonder how good the resolution is on the camera is.

Its more likely something to do with night time running during the world wars and head light regulations. A loco with lights on is easy to see in the dark and Britten is right next door to Germany where as the USA is a very long way away out of range of bombers (at the time) so their is no or very little needed for having small or head lights off. (just a thaught)

How can you re-rail something that has never been railed? You can only re-rail something if it has been railed before at an earlier date. Otherwise, you'r railing it, using a railer. I must point out that the instruction manual is typed up by a human, somewhere at Hornby - and they have been known to get things wrong.

At least this train has Walt Disney's favorite car, the combination baggage-passenger car. When Disneyland was being built Walt noticed the train didn't have that car on the consist. Walt asked where the combination car was, and was told there wasn't one or needed one. Walt remarked there will be one or there wouldn't be a train. Why? .HIs route involved a train trip everyday which none of the other boys wanted and he used the combination car to slip and deliver this papers.
