I was issued and wore these as late as 1987 as a member of 20th SFG (ALARNG). So comfortable and great fitting along with Panama sole jungle boots. Always fun to tell some REMF NCO to buzz off when they tried to tell me it was no longer authorized for wear! 😄

We were issued these in the Merchant Marines for work detail in the late nineties. All of our gear was ~30 year old surplus from the enlisted branches. I would guess they're probably just now beginning to issue Desert Storm surplus in the USMS.

My uncles was issued with all the gear. He was an Aussie working an entertainment contract for the US in Vietnam playing music with his band to entertain troops. They played shows at all sorts of bases all over south Vietnam. Some pretty small bases too. They were issued the gear in case they got shot down flying to shows as they were moved a lot in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft. No weapons of course but definitely all the fatigues, boots, bags etc. When he was on his way back to Australia he ditched the whole lot in a bin in Singapore. He’d said years later he really regretted it.

We had about 6 air bases in Thailand that supported the war. Much safer place to be of course. I was an SP, so we provided air base defense. I was issued jungle fatigues and camo ones as well upon arrival. It's cool to see they're still some old ones left. About 4 years after I was in Thailand, I was assigned to Guam and they had so many jungle fatigues left over they still issued us 2 pairs which we could wear, or just the regular fatigues. My wife got tired of ironing the jungles with the many pockets, so I went to wearing strictly the regular ones. And talking about old stock uniforms, on Guam they still issued old stock pith helmets to the younger airmen who provided close in sentry duty on B-52s. They had a stamped manufacture date of 1944 inside the helmet. They were lightweight, designed to keep the sun off mostly. They made so many, they was still around from WWII.

Have plenty of used surplus from that time that went through at least 1 tour & is still in decent shape. Couldn’t see your boots but I have had a lot of good quality boots. All prices ,western, work, hunting ect. Hands down, favorite and best is leather speed lace ( no steal toe)with Panama sole. Got lot’s of stuff(way before 9-11 )around Pope AFB& fort Bragg from dumpsters in the woods .skipping school, drinking Budweiser & smoking lefties.riding dirt roads in old Cadillacs ,chevells ect ect .those cars would be worth a fortune today but we were banking them off of pine trees & didn’t have a care in the world. Oh well. If the speed lace/jump boots weren’t freebies…$20 a pair all day long..new ,at flea markets .need some now. 80s& 90s are good. Next decent price I see I’m getting 2-3 pairs. At least. Wear nice unlaced year round. Slip on and go. Panama sole is great for not collecting clay mud ect. Lovem!
