Come see Nye when it’s back at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff! I guarantee the atmosphere seeing Michael Sheen in a play by a Welsh playwright here in Wales will be electric!!

I adore the Bord Gais (gash) Theatre in Dublin but a 1.5hr drive from it is the Grand Opera House Belfast, 3rd most beautiful theatre in Europe

My New Year theatre resolution is head more to off West End venues (and I don't mean NT at South Bank 😅) to explore niche plays and first time visits theatres!🖤

Just downloaded the Mezzanine app. Thank you Aeron! Seeing final performances is such a special experience. I was fortunate to get tickets to the final performances of Shucked & Suffs. As soon as I heard the shows were closing I immediately went online & purchased the tickets. Paid less than $100 (per ticket) each time. Gotta grab ‘em quick if you don’t want to pay a fortune.

Would love to hear more from you about plays both in London and regionally - maybe a heads up about what's going to be on and may be worth seeing. As you say it's so easy to miss stuff. Thank you for the recommendation on Benjamin Button - I hadn't thought of going but really enjoyed it.

Great video. Wish I had known how interested you are in Muriel's Wedding when I met you in September. I was in Sydney in 2019 and saw the show 3 times.I hope moves immediately to London for a long run. Rumor was it would come to Broadway first, but I don't think it will be appreciated here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks. This was so good! I like the Last Show idea. I am in the same boat about remaining Broadway theaters. Re: homework, I saw the movie Sunset Boulevard before I went to Sunset Blvd. I wanted to have more context given the stripped down approach. Had never seen Sunset before. I am glad I saw the movie first.

Yes!! Come to Dublin. We’d love to have you. Also, the Bord Gais (board gosh 😉) are doing Little Shop of Horrors this summer, their first in house production. That would be a good opportunity to come over xx

Absolutely come to the WMC, there's lots of great places to eat before your show down on Cardiff Bay 👍 Have a visit of the New Theatre while you're in Cardiff, it's beautiful there 😊

I live in south florida so there's a fair amount of theater here but I usually make 2 broadway trips a year. I'm excited to see Death Becomes Her, I almost saw it the last time I was there but it got cancelled due to illness. I want to see Boop as well since I love the cartoon character coming to life concept.

The Minack is a beautiful spot! Deff worth a visit though the scenery is often better than what's on stage (not a complaint!) While in Cornwall, the Cornwall Playhouse (aka Hall for Cornwall) has had a massive redesign and is now such a beautiful modern theatre amd gets some decent shows!

I've been to the Hall for Cornwall!! Not for years though, sounds like I have to go back!

1) Was super glad I got to see the final show of Job! What a great experience 2) Love the mezzanine app 3) Been to every theater except for the Ambassador(still need to see Chicago- was born and raised in NYC) 4) I have a goal to visit the west end 5) I love going in to shows blind, but if it’s based on a book, I will read it(read The Notebook, The Outsiders, and Water For Elephants before seeing the shows). Saw Sunset Blvd movie before. Didn’t see DBH movie before musical and liked the musical but might have liked it better if I had seen the film first(watched it after)

I am definitely in one of those couples where I want to go to the theatre a lot more and to more varied types of plays and musicals, than my wife.

it’s interesting what you say about director’s notes - I usually find it’s a bad sign if I have to read a directors note to understand your play. The play should stand alone without context. However, I have seen some things that I think should’ve been accompanied with a directors note and weren’t, notably Hamlet shakespeare in the park that had been set in Georgia with almost no explanation expect a big lawn sign and no change of location in the text. I ushered and audience members asked me why that sign was there most nights.

Dug out an old iPhone after watching this and joined Mezzanine. Went through my old programmes today and logged all the shows. I saw Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine in the Les Mis staged concert but it turns out I saw her as Young Eponine, and Eponine as well. I feel so old! I also saw Natalie Paris in Les Mis as a child actor.

I started documenting my decades of theatre going in 2017 when I was unemployed and was looking a my playbills and tickets. I created a robust excel spreadsheet that includes dates, theatre, cities, theatre name, seat location, cost per ticket, creative and top 6 casts members. In the last year I've been a bit busy with my day Job so I have a large pile to enter. I'm surprised who I saw on stage and all the places I've been. I can also filter by theatres and see each performance I've enjoyed there. Well worth the investment of time.

The Mezzanine app is great but as I've now switched to android I can't use it! I don't understand why the developer won't do an android version of it? I've tried show score but it's also frustrating as it so west end and Broadway focused. I feel there is nothing for those of us who see regional theatre!

Oh oh, oh! I can give you my Titanique thoughts as someone that HASN'T seen Titanic, ISN'T familiar with Céline Dion's discography and is a cis hetero woman. I know the general plot of Titanic due to living through the 90s and 2000s and am surface level aware of gay culture but I definitely felt like I was missing part of the show. Something would happen and I could differentiate between it being a silly thing for silliness's sake and it being a reference to *something* but wouldn't know exactly what. At the end of the day I could tell it wasn't for me but I had a fun time and encouraged those I thought would be more in it's demo to see it.
@JudiDeakin10 күн бұрын
I was also afraid that I would be too ignorant of the relevant cultures to get it and did rewatch the film before going. I'm sure there were references I missed but there was plenty to make me laugh, the vocals were superb (and no, I've never listened to Celine in my life!) and the whole thing so joyous, I've already booked another trip to London to see it again.
