Guys, if you like Yolanda's videos more, then go to her channel. You don't have to be rude. And I used to watch Buddy's videos or his show. He crumb coats his cake. The reason why he didn't do it here is because he was just showing you the checkerboard effect. He was gonna slice the cake anyways so why make the effort of making it perfect?

The checkerboard is more perfect if you slice the concentric circles and recombine them that way. Yeah its not one piece but it actually looks like a checkerboard instead of a weird chunky marble.

+Capt Ocie If he did the traditional way of baking the colors separately and then cutting different size rings out and transitioning the colors, the checkered pattern would be more pronounced. But because he used the mold, the batters kind of blended together which took away the straight edged line we're used to seeing. The way he did it in this video is more efficient, but when you're trying to save time you tend to omit some details. For what it's worth, it's not too horrible.
