Back then, the big reason I sold my PS4 phat for a slim was the big power consumption difference. If I'm not mistaken, the Ps5 Slim and Phat only have a 5W difference.

Both the latest CF1200 fat PS5 and the new Slim version have the same chip and VRam so power consumption should be the same. The 2020 and 2021 models though have bigger chips requiring more power drain.

I've watch a video test with a wattage meter of the 2 consoles at the same time. On idle the slim sits on 49.6W while the Phat(CFI-1200) is 53.5w. In gaming (Astro Playroom) Slim's max was 214W then the Phat was 220W. He did say the subtle difference will have a margin of error, so yeah, it's still identical.@@Youtubax

I hope they do some custom covers with vents built in similar to the larger version. The feet for the horizontal position are not an issue with someone finally pointing out the holes they sit in which is a nice touch. So only two complaints no vents around the edges like the large version and the vertical stand should have come free in the box or be at least half the price it currently is. 😎

The original PS5 covers have no vents... You are thinking about the ones from Dbrand and it only had one where the fan is on the system. Hope this helps.

I accept the new slim design.. But the horizontal stand, just 2 clips make the whole console seem cheap. Maybe for the PS5 pro, they can make an embedded horizontal stand into the console case itself. Honestly a console that stands vertically just look weird to me. Though I have no choice but to put mine original ps5 vertically cuz the stand sucks.

I’m thinking about to get my first PS and I really think I’m going to get a slim digital version, I’m constantly moving and I have no place to storage the disc cover; 3 years ago I got a switch and a bunch of game with the cover, I unfortunately throw away all the covers bc they took a lot of space, now I only have the game card, so for the ps5 I’ll get only digital games, and I can always buy a disk drive later if I decide where to live permanently. The ps5 slim has more storage and an extra usb c slot in the front. It is slimmer and has minor aesthetic changes and some internal changes. Both the og ps5 and ps5 slim have the same performance. The rumor that the ps5 slim can't play offline is a lie (I tested it you can play offline on both disc and digital). If you have the og ps5 I WOULD NOT buy the ps5 slim. If you don't have a ps5 and want one now I WOULD choose the ps5 slim UNLESS you can find the og ps5 really cheap. Basically buy whichever one you want then regret when the ps5 pro comes out lol

My set up was hell, because the DNS was getting lost, so I had to set it up manually to finally after 12hrs, be able to download Spiderman 2. Took longer to download the game than it took to finish 😕😕😕 ohh and I also had like a screen issue when it was showing the wallpaper but nothing was happening, so after 15 minutes I turned it off and on, and that fixed it.

My 1st cosole did the exact same thing. Freezing after updating the dualsense controller. Then after a few days passed all my games kept crashing! Did everything I can from clearing the cache to rebuilding the system. Nothing fixed it. So I returned the system and ordered a new 1. Im setting it up the new system right now as I type this. This system has already frooze just like the last, once updating the controller. So I had turn it off manually. This sucks! Fingers crossed that is doesn't start crashing games or else the controller update is whats causing it. Sony needs to fix this.

It's best to buy the Ps5 Digital Slim and then buy the Disc Drive separately so then you can choose the best of both worlds, if you want a slimmer console take off the drive and add the Slim Side Case.

terrible suggestion. buying the digital version of the slim and the disc drive separately is more expensive, not to mention that having the disc drive is a lot more important than having a "slimmer console". it would also be incredibly impractical to be constantly plugging and unplugging the disc drive. just buy the disc drive version from the get go.

I'm not a fan of how the LEDs seem shortened, and those gaps from the body to the panels have no grill. Also, my ps5 hdmi didn't last a year. I wonder how the slim will rest horizontally with no disc drive.

I had that my PS5 Slim stuck exactly like this, i watched your video prior unboxing my ps5 slim and setting it up, so i knew that i have to turn it off and it would be okay, thanks for showing this, nobody on youtube has showed this issue yet..this is glitch but its only once so i dont know if sony would fix that ot not, also sony should have atleast used new GUI atleast in the parts it still shows the OG version, it is slim so we need to see the exact system there😒 also the ps5 console logo should adapt in apps and wherever it depicts, these are very small details but i wonder sony is always sensitive with smallest of the detail, why they missed it or is it cost cutting in every way from their side, they don't want to pay their graphic designers to show the newer version i think and chose to use the same old firmware with smaller pcb and smaller housing..
