this is the way to use the FX node of this software, it's realy to make highlight and shadow shine, for other animated distortion effect, it's realy gaz work to control the key frame.

Is there a way where you can make it so that the shading doesnt bleed out of the character (after you blur)? Right now, the shadows that i've made darken the background as well, and i've tried to find a mask option where it would select the negative space of the base character layer aaaaand... cant find anything that would do that. Is it maybe something that i'll have to do in post?

Thanks for the video! Wow, and to think Toon Boom made you pay extra for their node network. Right now, I'm following the development of Krita closely since it seems like it will eventually become the free alternative to TVPaint. With all these capabilities right out the box however, it seems like OpenToonz will soon be the free alternative to Toonboom Harmony with just a little more development and bug fixes. I'm so excited for the future of 2D animation!
@MrDanINSANE
@MrDanINSANE 8 жыл бұрын
+Punkyagogo Exactly! I feel the same for Krita which is very powerful, same goes for Blender which I fall in love with and on every single release I'm very excited. There are some other software I may mention in the future that I'm using (not all free, but not crazy expensive) and anyone can create AMAZING stuff with, so stay tuned!

do you have a video that tells how to give an overall glow effect (not just backlight) or does this program not have that? (omg also your videos are so helpful btw)
@MrDanINSANE
@MrDanINSANE 8 жыл бұрын
Hmm... not sure what do you mean exactly by overall glow effect. Do you mean like a Pure Color glowing? and not just around the character? If that's what you're looking for try this: 1 - In the end of this video I'm showing a basic glow effect so follow these steps and put them over another column 2 - Make a New Column above your character: (Your character will be behind it) and make the drawing of the new column with a pure color, or use one of the color effects and Then, add the glow. I know it may be hard to understand because of my bad English, but I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for.

Check out video two, it gives intro to effect and lighting, but also hints in how to create the overall glow effect if you are smart enough to mess with the bugggy software.

Thanks so much for these tutorials, they have been very helpful! I would love to see how you animate this character including the glow and tone, do you re-draw each frame?

Great tutorial, I just had one question. What is the difference between add fx and insert fx?
@MrDanINSANE
@MrDanINSANE 8 жыл бұрын
+Giovanni Andrés Arévalo Solarte Thanks! let me try to explain: Add FX = Will add the selected effect without connect it to anything after it's own node, just drop it on the Schematic view. Insert FX = Will add the effect to the selected level and connect it In-Between 2 nodes (ready to use) on the Schematic view. I hope it helped a bit. :)
@giovanni154
@giovanni154 8 жыл бұрын
+Mr Dan INSANE Thanks for the explanation. So in conclusion it's the same effect object that it's added, the only thing that changes is the conexión between the nodes.

have to agree-- with the stuff I seen of the program. It is superior then some-- like the mesh ability for the boning is far better then the other programs which you pay for. So yes they should be rather worried

Great video! This is the first animation program i ever used. so im learning as i create and your videos have helped the most so far. only thing im confused is the schematics. where should i look to learn this?
@MrDanINSANE
@MrDanINSANE 8 жыл бұрын
The schematic views could be confusing at first, but I highly suggest you to play with it and do some experiments to see what it does and how it works. Maybe in the future I'll make even more tutorials about it. :)

Hi Dan all right ?! thanks for the videos because they are good and funny. I have a doubt, when drawing, the color of my pen is black, but when I have done the risk the color becomes red and I do not know why. Can you help me?
@ARCHIVEgeminope
@ARCHIVEgeminope 8 жыл бұрын
although I am not Dan, I know how to fix this, kinda. You have to lock your palettes or else they go transparent. To do this, click the lock on the top right of the level palette to keep the palette. And if you made a palette prior to this problem, put it back and lock the palette.

hello sir im a big fan of yours, i watched all of your videos and also downloaded it to my storage, all of them are very helpful and inspiring. i have been trying to do the same thing you did in this video but when i go to animate it with plastic tools everything moves fine but the fx effect remains at the same place, here is my schematic structure [table>>mesh of the body>>body>>1.mesh of the tone>tone 2.mesh of the glow>glow] .. i dont know where i have mistaken or left something to do.. pls help sir. thanks in advance.

Thanks for your video !! I have a problem, every time I click on preview to see the effect on my animation my drawing goes white/disappears.... I tried to fix the fx settings but nothing worked ...even the tone wouldn't show up like it did on 25:58. No effect happens, it stays as the original even if i add an fx. Do you have an idea on what could be the reason?
@MrDanINSANE
@MrDanINSANE 8 жыл бұрын
You're welcome :) It's hard to tell, try to do something simple and see if the result is the same as you describe. If you still have the problem, try install OpenToonz on a different computer, and try again something simple to see if it's a problem with your hardware (could be a graphic card) or, if you're getting the same result you might doing something wrong, but I will have to know what since it's hard to tell. Give it a shot!
