Thank You Andrew! Im just getting used to my first DLG and even though I am familiar with much of opentx, getting this setup was a brick wall for me! Your explaining got through to mvvg y feeble brain so Thank You very much! I set middle position normal, down for Flaps, and up for Spoilers in the MAX method you showed and it works beautifully, cheers. Z

I have done something very similar on my Taranis for my gliders, but also added the flaperons to a Flight Mode, because FlightModes have tho option to add a delay. The delay slows down the quick control surface movements that you get from a switch.
@AndrewNewton8 жыл бұрын
I have not investigated flight modes yet, but you can add delays to any mix also

Thank you so much Andrew! If I can't get things to work now I better go back to control line! I don't know if it will help on the small plane, but I will give it a try if I don't destroy it on the maiden. I probably should get a trainer or something bigger and slower to start with. I was going to build one of your trainer scratch builds, but every time I start I keep changing my mind and end up doing nothing. Again thanks for taking the time to explain this in detail it really is great to have the ability to teach and to be as talented as you are. I don't think I will have video, but I will let you know how it goes.

I have to thank you for prompting me to do it. Even if you don't use flapperons on this model it will be worth trying the programming for future planes. Good luck

what a great video just what I'm looking for, I just did a maiden on my talon rebel gt first time ever flying a vtail which its flying pretty good on inav 6.1.1, were I fly its a short landing spot and I'm trying to slow this thing down, I've watched all your video's on this plane and done some research but wondering if I should go with flaperons or spoilerons to slow it down, I know alot of this will be trail and error but roughly how much deflection on alerions when either of these are deployed, Right now I have spoilerons setup and when deployed getting 8mm up I have no idea if this is even close to what i need to help with landing. Please give me your thought's on what I'm trying to do with this plane. Thanks again
@AndrewNewton10 ай бұрын
Spoilerons are better to get it down in a shorter space. I would try a bit more but make sure you still have enough roll control. INAV will help with stability.
@egtreadway423210 ай бұрын
Thanks I will go with the spoilerions, right now when there deployed I'm getting 8mm reflex but on roll getting very little up elevons and on down about the same but I guess its possible to use rudervators to help with roll but really not sure? Thanks for your help

Thanks Spiros. Clubs seem to be oriented towards big balsa planes. I prefer to fly little foams out by myself.

Is there a way to make the aileron control only go in the up direction while flaperons is active? My ailerons wanna follow the flaperons to much down when i control them and they will probably burn up the servos
@caspermaster-com7 жыл бұрын
I fixed my problem, i should set my end points in the output and not in the mixer, that way the servo will never move more than X% so if the flap is 100% aileron input wont add to the output to servo :)
@jaumesinglavalls54865 жыл бұрын
Cool, one question: Is not better to have the switch link to an input, and from that you can add this input to the differents channels?
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is how the OpenTX developers intended inputs to be used. But I go for simple and easy.

Did LLoyd answered the initial question? Is a good idea to program flaperons on a nano skyhunter?
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
No he didn't but I wouldn't use flaperons on small planes. Only big glidey planes
@alphapapa774 жыл бұрын
What would you think about the ZOHD Drift? It is a small plane but from the videos, it looks like it would glide forever.

What an elegant yet simple solution and easy to understand. I have a Taranis QX7 running opentx 2.2 and it seems to perform nicely although I don't have a plane handy to try it out. Just a quick question, assuming that maximum flaperon down travel will be greater than the elevator travel, i.e. the aileron travel will be contained within the flaperon travel envelope, then should the maximum aileron throws be set at the mixer level rather than at the servo output level? Hope that makes sense. Mike
@AndrewNewton7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike, not sure I follow you. For slopers I may have ailerons and flaperons/spoilerons both going 100% For DLG I have lots of flaperon and much less aileron. I usually do all this in the mixer screen and only do servo reversing in the servo output screen. Any thing done in the servo output screen would affect both flaperons and ailerons so I would only reduce the throws there if I didn't have access to the servo arm or linkages.
@mikejones68817 жыл бұрын
OK Andrew, perhaps I stated the question badly. I was missing a point here with flaperons in that the ailerons must be able to move further than the maximum flaperon setting otherwise you would not have any control authority. Thanks.
@mikejones68817 жыл бұрын
Ok, sorted out my thought processes, all is well. I bought the QX7 as a birthday present for my 74th birthday. Love it to bits! Started flying RC last year and as there were no local clubs near where I live in Snowdonia, North Wales, had to do it all myself - using a cheapie Flysky FST6. Now quite competent! Your videos are a big help.
@AndrewNewton7 жыл бұрын
That's right Mike, but you can use rudder with full flaperons for some degree of control

Don't you have any issues with stalls?I have full lenght flaperons and when I use them , the wing simlpy stalls , have you had the same problem and how did you solve it? Thanks a lot , Sufyan
@AndrewNewton7 жыл бұрын
Not really but I don't fly around with lots of flapperon deployed, only for landing
@sufysprojects26897 жыл бұрын
Andrew Newton I mean in the landing , do you have any stalls? Or do you make a steep decend to overcome this issue?
@AndrewNewton7 жыл бұрын
Might depend on the plane or the wing loading. I don't do anything special for the landing and apply flaperons on and off repeatedly to slow it down but still keep control. You need to still have some aileron movement with full flaperons down otherwise you won't have roll control.
@sufysprojects26897 жыл бұрын
Andrew Newton I do have roll control when flaps are deployed , but I didn't know that technique you described I also have very low wing loding
